You were not one of those, evidently, that Clinton rushed and swore in before his electionThank you. No, I was not, although I was naturalized in 1993. Under "his" watch but the process was begun long before that (which is how long it takes done legally).
I have no feelings nor an obligation to aliens
Did you leave out illegal aliens? I was a legal alien for almost 15 years before I became a citizen.

I was distinguishing between foreign students cited by the poster to whom I was replying and illegal alien students which he also referenced. He distinguished between them as well, and said (essentially) that he thought illegal aliens, in effect, deserved to get into U.S. universities in place of foreign students (please read his post).
My point was that foreign students pay their own way and do NOT represent a drain on U.S. tax dollars as illegal aliens would if they were given scholarships large enough to get them through a pricey Univ. like Northwestern. I was NOT mixing up foreign students with illegal alien students, but distinguishing between the two.

"Unless things have changed, its' pretty much always been this way. Those who claim you as a dependent cannot make above a certain level for you to claim student aid." Yes, you are right about that but this is a different thing altogether. They are proposing that so-called "wealthy" parents (people making over something like $90,000 a year) actually have to pay $3,000 more per year for their child to attend a University in California. It's fecking unbelievable!!! When can we start the revolution???

I am also not a man, and I understood the post I was replying to perfectly well. It was YOU who did not understand it.

"We just don't have the resources. I don't think it's fair."What a cry baby. I went to 8 years of college. We didn't have the resources but I worked, my parents worked, my grandparents worked because we all knew education was important. It's not a hand out situation. My family invested in me and it was my job to make them proud and later take care of them.
It's a generational thing. You just don't work for your future. You work for those who may follow and those who have come before you. It's the right thing to do. It's sooo simple.
This women is so selfish.

What the he?? ....
What is this rampant disease going on in America?
If people are here illegally - then they've broken the law. There's no quibbling about getting Driver's licenses, or University admissions, or this special privilege, or that one.
If people want to make a case for changing the immigration laws to allow more people of this kind, or the other, immigrate - then make the case...and change the law. But don't reward people for breaking the law. This is insane.
When did the USA decide not to be a nation, and who are these 5th columnists who want to encourage this lawlessness?.... madness...

These kids should be thanking Mom and Dad for never getting documented.
Wouldn't that fall under personal responsibility.
No doubt these kids have talents. It is a shame their parents let them down.

And, besides, they only got to be SO wealthy because they stood on the shoulders of the little people to get to the top. They should be required to give something back to the proletar.. I mean "the people."

I am sorry. I did leave out the word illegal in my post.
Just curious, where are you from and what is your story?

If Northwestern--one of the nation's top schools--took action, it "could set a trend'' for other private schools, said Joyce Ramirez-Knight, co-chair of the immigration strategy team for the organization.Colleges now employ 'strategy teams' to help aid and abet illegal invaders? Is this practice legal?
The liberal academia in this country seemingly is working overtime to subvert and destroy America from within.
Is the meter running? Naah -- not as long as ALL politicians from both sides of the aisle are selling out America while pandering for votes.

"We should have the opportunity to be able to go to the top universities,'' Bull.
I want to know how they were able to attend high school in the US for 4 years.
Doesn't this p!$$ off all the immigrants who are here legally and went the extra mile to become legal citizens?
To: new cruelty
She shouldn't be attending public schools let alone collages here. Does she comprehend what "ILLEGAL" alien means? Is there some reason why she can't get LEGAL?

Great idea. She could work in Mexico to pay off her student loan as one alternative while improving life for those countrymen.

Yeah you're right. They got to be SO wealthy by taking advantage of others obviously. Of course, what I read referred to the Bay Area where an income of $90,000 is hardly wealthy. The median price of a home there is still around $400,000. Yeah, these "wealthy" Californians should certainly have no problem subsidizing the education of ILLEGAL ALIENS. I mean, come on, what's the problem with that???!!! Somedays I just think that I am the one going insane and that none of this stuff that I read or hear can possibly be true. It must be those voices in my head going off again.

Just curious, where are you from and what is your story?I'm from a galaxy far, far away... :-)
Family immigrated on a two year work visa in 1978 and came to the realization that this country is the closest thing to perfection on earth. Thankfully, we legally stayed, got our permanent residency and all became citiizens.
I'm sorry for getting all fired up; this subject just hits rather close to home and I have ZERO tolerance for these criminals.

I was accepted to Princeton and declined because I knew it would devastate my parents financially (no pressure from them, I turned it down prior to telling Mom and Dad).
If poor and middle-income American students can't afford certain high-brow universities, why should we pay the way of foreign students of any background who aren't even here legally? Even if taxpayer dollars don't go to pay their tuition, the tuition of the American students gets raised if the university diverts funds to pay the way for illegal immigrants.

All it takes to be an "American" now is to sneak across the border in the middle of the night, disregard the laws of the nation, tatoo "VICTIM" on your forehead and whine to a guilt-riddled advocacy group for assistance. That is what being an "American" is these days -- looking to government (or entitlement due to your victim status) to get you where you want to be.

Hey, if I do something illegal, can I get college financial aid, or pay reduced fees?
