We have that beat in South Carolina. We're using printers to spit out living tissues and organs Now we're going to get spam offering to BUILD us improved body parts on the spot.

Oh, great, just what we need. Concentrate the value of even phycical objects into the intellectual property so we can extend all the property rights issues of the software world into the world of the physical. I can just see the RIAA of Kitchen Appliances suing Suzie Homemaker for pirating a blender. No thanks.

This technology, (or a reasonable facsimile), has been discussed in the book GRAVITY DREAMS by L.E. Modesitt. He looked at it from a sociolgical direction though. What I found to be most interesting were his food replicators and the effect that they had on the World Economy. Sheer and total devastation. With all countries being re-ordered after a century or so. With the world basically having two parts, those who embraced the technology and those who rejected it.
I highly recommend it to you as a source of thoughtful and enjoyable reading.

You make a good point. However, there i a much simpler application of this technology that needs only carbon, air and water as ingredients, and only very simple plans.
How long before we are downloading molecular structures from www.designerdrugs.com?
