I can't tell which one these tears are for.....Let me try to help, because I believe I've walked this way before.
I/We are mourning the passing of an era.. a time when standing up for someone and something was more than a stunt. It was a way of life, and for Bob Hope it was natural.
I/we only hope there are others like him growing up right now, preparing to take his place. That is our duty to our fallen, and to our progeny to raise good people of kindness and faith in ourselves and GOD.

His trip to the Saudi Arabia to entertain American troops in 1990 was his last. His first was actually in 1940..a er... I've been told ..that really was before my time... LOLOL

I can only "Hope" that I end up where he did.
My experience in Vietnam was probably more the real thing..Not to take anything away from Mr. Hope..He was wonderful! But I was on a firebase hill 35 miles from DaNang. We had 100 guys in our battery. We later learned that our captain took a chopper to see the show. Just him. Not even one of the Marines who toiled 18 hours a day got to go. Just the captain, one lousy leader of men. I hope he meets Bob Hope some day, who will likely chew him out. But I don't think he wil meet him...

'GI Bob'...As he accepted the framed resolution from Senator Thurmond and Speaker Gingrich, Hope waved to the audience and said, "I've traveled all over the world and I've never seen a better audience."GI BOB.. that fits.. Thanks for that memory..
