You beat me to it - agreed entirely! Not to mention that folk at that income are cut out of a lot of other "benefits" - almost all scholarships we're discovering are "need-based." Never mind that our daughter is heading for class valedictorian and got 1400 on her SATs without studying.

I'll bet they're even more displeased about not getting a refund. I bet your darn right FRiend. And I'd say thet've got alot more validity to their gripe also. Do you think squabbles like this could be avoided by scrapping the IRS and going to a consumption/flat tax? I don't know but I'll put that in the Pro column when weighing abolshment of the progressive (unequal)income tax. Along with taxpayer money saved, harassment avoided, less tax fraud, much smaller and less intrusive collection agency. Ease of compliance. And here's one for the greenies, less trees destroyed. ;-)
