Ashcroft has said that the ban is constitutional.

Hmmmm.

The Lautenberg bill would address these concerns, with measures including a redefinition of the term "assault weapon" to include any semiautomatic rifle, shotgun, or pistol that can accept a detachable magazine and includes one listed additional assault feature such as a pistol grip. . . .

Seems to me that any semi-automatic pistol will have a "pistol grip." Right? So I guess that means any semi-automatic pistol will be banned (along with lots of other firearms as well).

This is a case of good cop, bad cop. Bad cop is Lautenberg. Good cop is the Feinswine one.

Neither are acceptable to anyone that wants to earn my vote.

The usual suspects are behind this. I don't think an AWB bill stands a chance in the H of R. The NRA does a great job in reminding gun owners which lawmakers have betrayed them.

They repeat the assault weapons ban and it may cause another 1994 DemRat slaughter in Congress.

Could someone explain to me how a pistol grip makes a gun more lethal? I just don't see how, since they are made from either wood, plastic, or fiberglass and do not in anyway contribute to the firing of a bullet out the muzzel of a gun.

"Assault weapons are weapons of war. They are designed to hose down individuals with a spray of lethal bullets. They have no place in a civil society," noted John Johnson, IPGV's executive director.

Individuals? I want to be able to hose down large goups with a spray of lethal bullets. Maybe this chump should be taught the difference between semiautomatic and full automatic. It's hard to hose down people when you only get one lousy bullet per pull of the trigger.

What happens next time when gun manufacturers "circumvent" the ban again by "making small modifications to their weapons" to eliminate all of the awful parts. Idiots.

I hope that the Republicans have the spine to allow this legislation die. Unfortunately, I expect them to fold like a cheap umbrella before the ban expires.

Introduce AR-15 style rifles in a bolt action configuration.

Next you will hear the screams about bolt-action assault rifles.

Could someone explain to me how a pistol grip makes a gun more lethal?

Or the flash suppressor, or a grenade launcher mount, or a folding stock, or a bayonet mount?

I don't know of too many semi-automatic pistols without detachable magazines, either.

Ashcroft has said that the ban is constitutional.

Not for him to decide, thats why one of these laws need to go to the Supreme Court.
