Sorry to hear of his attitude after an aliens thread years ago.
He could have opted out early on and wisely considered it a thin sliver of a portion of FR!
He could have rejoiced in the diversity of freedom at work!

Hugh just wishes he could be as big of a goofball and nut as the posters on FR.
Difference is, Hugh has to try to appeal to as many people as possible. Posters don't.
C'mon Hugh, we know you let your frustrations out by posting on FR. What's your freeper name?

He does make a good point of course about this being a great source of information. I used to have a small radio show. If a guest cancelled at the last minute I would just rush to FR and print out a few stories with comments for my material.

He just had to mention me didn't he. At least we have people working on purging them.
Getting rid of those who whine and complain about how the RATS and the GOP are bad political parties and so forth but are not willing to offer alternatives, and those who actively post here and then go someplace else to talk about how bad, how socialist both this site and Jim are would not be such a bad idea, either.

You know something, not everyone cares to have the picture of a dead guy shoved in their face everyday. Would it be altogether possible to refrain from posting this again?
Thank you.

He looks like Bluto, not Popeye.
What's up with Bluto anyways? In some 'toons he was Bluto, in others, he was Brutus. What gives?

I still don't understand what's so difficult about scrolling on by; closing one's eyes; shifting to a different thread or otherwise avoiding looking at something someone doesn't want to see on FR.
I happen to think the anti Lincoln folks are idiots who are mostly using FR to sell their books. And, occasionally I tweak them just because I think they deserve it. But if I don't want to read their stuff, I don't bother. And I certainly don't read much of their stuff any more.
The bodies are certainly needed widely displayed in Iraq. Otherwise--it's optional, certainly.
But, you might as well get used to it. Such will be showing up on the sidewalks of a neighborhood near you within not too many years.
1/3 to 2/3's of the world's population are evidently slated to die.
Certainly satan's only job is to rob, kill and destroy. And, knowing his time is short, he's winding up to do it big time.
The pics are not pretty. They are real. In an era of so much phoney-ness, smoke, mirrors and Billdo and Shrillery for politics--real can be a plus.

Now there are some nuts at Free Republic, some absolute off the wall goofballs.Hey. I resemble that remark.
To: Houmatt
Bad faith posters can be a pain.
And, I have little to no patience for sabatoeurs, grossly hypocritical, destructive-to-FR etc. Quite reasonable to weed the lot out as much as fitting and worth the bother.
But there is also an attitude that seems overly abundant at times that FR must be some prissy sort of starchy orthodox place or it's degraded, disrespected and losing clout. I think that's not very true at all.
FR IS INCREDIBLY ROBUST. Given the numbers of quality people involved; the quality of the postings and discussion and the breadth and depth of influence--the worst that fringe folks can do is increase a derisive chuckle or two here and there.
Most of the fringe posters and topics merely add color, interest, humor, respite from the heaviness etc. to FR.
FR would be much less interesting and thereby also much less impactful without the full robust complexity and color of THE WHOLE GROUP, IMHO.
Remember newspapers . . . those cheap big sheet paper things with horrid ink that rubbed off so easily? How many of us turned first to the funny papers--the cartoons--many of us even before the Front Page. The Birds of Rare Plumage postings and comments are similar on FR, I think--they add enriching and delightful color.
Besides . . . some of the fringe postings may be more true than we think . . . . and isn't FR seriously about warning the citizens of the Republic about forces, individuals and groups intent on destroying The Republic and The Constitution?

"Hewitt gave Free Republic a nice plug!" Yeah -- real "nice plug"...
Hugh Hewitt: "Now there are some nuts at Free Republic, some absolute off the wall goofballs. I always warn my listeners and friends in the blogosphere that you have to learn to work that site to avoid the goofballs..."
IOW, despite the forum of loons and mental cases at Free Republic, the news posted there is faster than other outlets.
Hey Hugh -- thanks for back-handed bitch slap.

At least we have people working on purging them.
At least you're honest enough to use the right word for political cleansing.
Getting rid of those who whine and complain about how the RATS and the GOP are bad political parties and so forth but are not willing to offer 'alternatives',
The alternative has long been known. - Change the GOP from within, just as JR proposed by forming:
RLC Liberty Caucus | latest posts Address:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/rlc/browse
and those who actively post here and then go someplace else to talk about how bad, how socialist both this site and Jim are would not be such a bad idea, either.
A 'forum' without dissent, without controversy, is a contradiction in terms.
Many active FReepers who post their views about FR's 'internal affairs' on other sites would be only too glad to discuss them here.
Catch 22, - do so & you are labled as a nut & goofball, and purged.

They don't. Not because they are afraid of being banned, but because they are little two-faced gits.
I know of at least one person here who actively posts on a regular basis. He is all Mr. Sunshine, acting as though he is actually enjoying himself here. On another site, however, if you say something positive about this site, he goes off with, "You Bush-bot socialist aft kisser! All of you at FR are!" Or something otherwise derogatory about the site and those who post here.
If I had anything to say in this matter (and to those who are reading this: If the shoe fits, then you had better be glad I don't), that person would be given persona non grata status here in a heartbeat. In. A. Heartbeat.

When I used to live in Southern California listening to KFI-AM640, Hugh Hewitt was a favorite listening pastime.
His recitations of 'The Declaration of Independence' on July 4th were stirring. He's got a great voice for narration.
I used to tune into whatever political TV talkshow he did on TV with that loopy lady named 'Pat' (somethingorother) who wore designer berets and 1950's-vintage librarian glasses.
I don't get Hugh Hewitt up North. Glad to hear he's doing well.
To: F16Fighter
Hey Hugh -- thanks for back-handed bitch slap. Right!! He insults us, but says its a good place to get news fast, and we thanked him (to include me, guess I wasn't to quick on my feet on this one). Not to mention that a bunch of those "nut cases and goof balls" are vets!! So yeah.. Thanks a ton Hugh!!
But then again, a bunch of radio talk shows hosts are nut cases and goof balls too, but we still tune in because we find them entertaining and at least they get the message right half the time. Kind of like the proverbial weather man, who can be wrong half the time and still get paid. Hugh should perhaps apologize to FR, as we have sent him a TON of business over the years!
