Some folks panic a bit when they see the windows go into fission. Not enough presense of mind to do that when your computer is *screaming* "You are an idiot!"

Luckily, I've been married for nearly 14 years - keeping my presence of mind while someone is screaming 'You are an idiot!' is second nature at this point ;0)

I'll give you a clue next time: Use the "task manager" to kill the program. Any other method freaks out the browser

Actually...I didn't have a prob with it. I had an idea where it was going...and of course it was a link from you.

Sometimes I feel like Fredo from the Godfather..with a one point higher IQ.

Thanks Laz! I knew you would eventually come over to to save me....and hijack my thread.

The thing I like best about the Hubble telescope is that we've now identified 70 sextillion stars. Now, in all those stars, what is the likelihood that there will be no intelligent life out there? None!

Discuss.

Okay, now that was the single most annoying thing I have ever stumbled across.

I thought 180 degree hijacking turns were illegal...or at least you needed a special permit to make one.

BTW it's 80 sextillion stars...check your facts next time pissboy.

I run the old Netscape 4.74 (because Netscape 7.x just causes my laptop fits) and within the last few weeks experience this intermittently, as well.

Hitting Refresh or Reload and it connects up just fine is my workaround.

Series but not a hugh difficulty.

My employer will be suing you now.

Tell him to go ahead. I've hired David Boise and he never loses. Well, almost never. Mostly he does not. Except for that Gore Florida thing. Then there was that Gore Supreme Court thing. And that Microsoft thing really didn't work out exactly like Boise wanted. Oh, then there was Napster. But he is working for SCO/Caldera now. He is gonna lose that.

On second thought, where do I send the check?

The last line of HTML source on the FR home page is:

http://xslt.alexa.com/site_stats/js/s/a?url=www.freerepublic.com

This source line calls alexa.com for the purposes of keeping statistics on FR homepage hits. The site, alexa.com, has been experiencing technical difficulties. When it does it can act to prevent the finishing of the display of the FR home page.

This problem is not your fault and you can not do anything about it other than avoid using the FR home page. I do come to FR via the home page. I have the News Forum book marked and go directly to it: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/browse

I needed that laugh...thanks.....bad day and all that.

I'm still lagering the house just in case the apaches show up in tomcats....I didn't even know they could fly those damn birds. I thought they just smoked a pipe...and showed up.

This thread is starting to get really spooky.
