Death of a dynasty: Saddam’s sons will not be missed

Except by the folks who wanted to use their heads for polo.

At least they went down fighting. I wouldn't have expected that of them. I thought if ever cornered they would have either sheepishly surrendered so they could live a few more years in a comfy cell while awaiting their trials- or would have ate a bullet.

A great trial with his accusers confronting him and a public execution would have been better. Equal and satisfying justice rarely occurs.

winning the peace has taken a dramatic turn for the better.

Daschle and Pelosi are cursing as we speak...

Even if Saddam himself is still alive, his dynasty will be dead.

There's a third son - 18 or 19 year old Ali Saddam Hussein - who's evidently unknown to the vast majority of journalists... Notwithstanding, the figurative point is correct, even if not literally so....

ABC just reported that the US intends to make photos of Uday and Qusay (the corpses, that is) available for viewing to prove that they're really dead.

From news.com.au:

"Saddam has a third, younger son, according to some reports, and three daughters. The four kept a low profile in his regime."

He doesn't sound like a major player, and after seeing what happened to his brothers, he should have the good sense not to follow his brothers' footsteps.

Oh but they will be missed. Gov Dean would certainly have embraced them as campaign workers. Who knows, maybe the number two spot might have been offered. At least the head of the US Olympic Committee would have been granted!

Photos, Hell!!!

Put their heads on pikes in that square in Baghdad where their dad's statue used to be (the one that was pulled down by the tank retriever).

Somebody sure didn't miss 'em. I'm down with that as long as there's enough left over for a tissue sample.

These two should never be kept alive.

I believe they died as they should.

"I believe they died as they should."

Nah! They should have been put into a pillory in the central square of Baghdad, with an open box of razor blades to hand, and a sign in Arabic saying "Family members of their victims are entitled to 1 cubic centimeter of flesh". Just for fun, an open box of salt should also be provided.

Instead, they got what was probably a quick and minimally painful end.

The villa where they were trapped belonged to a cousin of Saddam — but it seems possible that this cousin betrayed them.

Rather fitting. The best way to rise up in the Baath party was to kill a relative. Saddam's sons apparently got a taste of their own medicine.

Saddam's sons will be poorly missed by Howard Dean and the "traitor" Democrat Party. I hear tell that the "nine" Democrats running for President and Hillary Clinton nominated Saddam and his sons for the Nobel Peace Prize! Terry McAuliffe and Bill Clinton were in tears today upon hearing of the deaths of Saddam's sons. Members of the Black Congressional Caucus will be wearing black armbands for the next thirty days in rememberence of the two slain sons. Nancy Pelosi called GW Bush the murderer of Iraqi innocents! Carl (Karl Marx) Levin has called for an immediate investigation of the Army Special Forces that conducted the deadly raid. The Democrat Party is guilty of treason and should be destroyed next year at the ballot box!

I guess the truth hurts! You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine! I call 'em as I see'em. These Democrats are traitors IMHO!

Couple of doof playboys flauting their gold plated assault rifles, and when it came to the fight of their lives they just blew a lot of ammo through the barrels at random, inflicting zero casualties, as far as been reported. They probably got wacked by their own ricochets.

"If it were up to us, Uday and Qusay would still be alive today and in their rightful positions of power in Iraq. Don't you wish you listed to us?"
