My Mother, age 87, who lived thru the WWII era, had some very choice words when she heard this on FNC. She was so deeply annoyed, she called me 'long distance' (which costs extra money, you know, and she NEVER calls l.d. unless it is an emergency) to Rant.
She had sisters and sisters in law who sat for months during WWII not knowing what the heck was going on, and who waited much longer than a year for their spouses to return.
