I noticed that. Especially during the late 70's when I nearly lost my home because taxes and interest rates were so high. I thank Ronald Reagan for giving me a break so I didn't have to work 60+ hours a week.

Reagan also closed a number of tax loopholes. For example, there were corporations like Boeing, GE, Dupont that were paying zero taxes while a mother with kids earning $12,000 a year paid taxes....it was corrected.

Personally, I would be in favor of a flat tax just to get rid of all the bureacracy and lobby effects. I would even tax many of the so-called nonprofit groups that are paying no taxes and receiving nontaxable contributions.
