Nice to see that India and China will have access to the software that insures our homeland "security".

50,000 people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out. A refund is then due. The team is about to mail refunds when the Congressional Democrats stopps them and decrees that they send out refund amounts based on the Democrat National Committee's interpretation of fairness. After all,if the refunds are made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the money would go to the wealthiest ticket holders. That would be unconscionable! |

I wonder homany fanatic Muslims who do exist in india and are included among the many from that nation who work in IT wqill be working on these projects. I wonder how a 10K/yr Indian programmer will react to $1,000,000 US in order to turn over some back doors into these systems. Just wondering since they will not face the penalties tehy would were they caught doing it in the USA.

So right. I kept looking up to see if this wasn't really from BSNN news or the Onion.

Let's just hope whatever Microsoft comes up for this contract doesn't have as many security holes in it as Outlook!

Look at the bright side. Some script kiddie will be able to keep freepers up to date on the war on terror with inside information.
Does anyone know if Microsloth can meet C-2 standards yet?

Ah monocultures. That should be worth a PhD thesis one day just like the Irish depending solely on potatoes for food.
I'm going to be on the lookout for the IBOMBYOU virus.

That would most likely be true no matter what OS was chosen. The thing that gets me is MS is notoriously piss-poor when it comes to security matters.

Kiss your butts goodbye, boys...we're as good as dead now.

What would you suggest, Linux? Open source code is so much more secure, er open?

What would you suggest, Linux? Open source code is so much more secure, er open? I can tell you're operating under the erroneous assumption that closed-source software is "more secure" than open source. Well, since you believe that way, perhaps you'd care to explain why the most worm-friendly and trojan-friendly OS on Earth is closed source?
For my own part, I'd suggest anything that didn't give us the the abomination of Nimda, Code Red I, Code Red II, the ILOVEYOU virus, the Melissa virus, and a host of other worm- and trojan-sired payloads that STILL impact the 'net to this day.
But since you asked, I'd recommend either OpenBSD, Immunix, or Bastille Linux. Hell, even stock stock Solaris would be a step in the right direction.
All of those are highly secured and, unlike Microsoft's rubbish, once secured, they're still useable.

The security via obscurity model went out with the 1970's. Like bubble gum stuck to the bottom of one's shoe, as a component of FUD, it sticks around. Peer reviewed source code has a proven track record.
