I understand the cross-race part, but cross-theological? If they choose a caucasion donor, asian, african, anything....what could the beliefs of the donor possibly have to do with anything?

"That's what being a Protestant's all about. That's why it's the church for me. That's why it's the church for anyone who respects the individual and the individual's right to decide for him or herself. When Martin Luther nailed his protest up to the church door in fifteen-seventeen, he may not have realised the full significance of what he was doing, but four hundred years later, thanks to him, my dear, I can wear whatever I want on my John Thomas!"

Well, I suppose if you really hate Jews, for example, you wouldn't want a Jewish donor -- it would seem like pollution. For all intents and purposes I think it's equivalent to racial animosity.

Consider a similar story:

A few years back, IRA leader Gerry Adams made what was quite possibly the best public insult in the last 50 years. He said when he was a boy they always had sex with the protestant girls, because they were more willing to put out.

If you think about it, the insult was at least a "threefer," the force of which came from the different religions of the men and women involved.

I guess if your thinking is a few centuries old, you could be offended by someone of a different religion. I can see the racial thing because there are genetic differences which give people certain visible traits, but theology??? How can you tell what a person believes in by his physical appearance? I believe people who think this way, definitely have problems. As for your story, how people can actually be offended by a religious comment is beyond me.

Whaaaaaaa...? this means that abortion violates the 1st amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

If a sperm has religion, abortion prohibits the sperm from manifesting his free exercise of his religion. In the same way if an egg has religion, equality prevails here, abortion prevents her from manifesting her free exercise of her religion.
