However, if it appears that the Bush Administration is "browbeating" Israel into making concessions to terrorists, Bauer said a large number of these people may just sit out the elections. PING

Yeah, sit out the election and make it possible for a socialist Dim to get in the White House. That'll really show 'em!

In your dreams Bauer!
He's a shill for someone, but I'm not sure who anymore, he waffles so easily!

Bauer, a Presidential candidate in 2000 and head of American Values, a conservative advocacy group
Anyone here belong to "American Values"? Anyone know anyone that does? I don't and I don't. I know conservatives that are Christians and have never heard any of them say "I'll have to see what Bauer says".
Bauer's trip, his second to Israel, was sponsored by a group of Orthodox Republicans called the Jerusalem Coalition, headed by Michael Landau, a real-estate developer from New York.
What? Bauer can't send himself to Israel?

There was a time, long ago, when I would have said...
I'll have to see what Bauer says...
...not anymore!

Express himself within the Republican party, rather than the Jerusalem Post?
Or publicly express his opinions, without the threat of "his" voters staying home. A lot more of that would be helpful. Bauer has an exagerated opinion of himself.

I had understood that the Christian right largely sat out the 2000 presidential election. If true, then I don't see that the Bush Administration has done anything to bring them back into the fold. Quite the contrary.
To: Yehuda
Let's put it this way: I may not agree with some things that President Bush is doing, but I am certainly not going to put in a Dean or a Kerry, who will be many times worse.
To: Paul Atreides

Coming soon to an SAT near you:
Blacks are to the Democratic Party as Christian Conservatives are to:
A) Church
B) Bake Sales
C) The Republican Party
D) Synagogues
I'm no Bauer fan - but I am one of those Repulicans who believe that God is God (rather than the money is God types) and I am tired of the drift towards the moral toilet bowl when our (supposedly ours) party is in power. It's very easy to legislate immorality and that's what's happening. So, while there are a few days between now and the next election - I'm not thrilled about voting for more of the same.
To: Yehuda
BTW, this is a serious question, not a troll. Easy answer, put Bush out on his ass in the primaries.

And while I don't really listen for Bauer's opinion before I make a decision, he's right. There may be more than a few that sit out 2004. As a Christian, I can not in good conscience vote for someone that is willing to sell out Israel or the land God gave to them for a peace which we all know is for just a period of time and not everlasting. Every other issue to me is secondary compared to how this nation treats God's chosen people and the land given to them

Gary Bauer is the Dennis Kucinich of the Right.
He certainly doesn't speak for me.

If Bauer would work like crazy to defeat 'rats, I'd have more use for his political clucking, but about all he appears capable of doing is damaging other Republicans who disagree with him (or ignore him). That's not influencing or "bringing into line," that's dividing. Anyone who advocates voters to sit out an election because none of the candidates have sufficient purity of character is either a hypocrite or an immature naif.
Or both.
I'm a self-admitted Bible-thumping fundamentalist too, and I know of Israel's importance to Christian living and thinking, but this is not Israel- it is the United States of America, and the best way to help the Jewish State is not always to agree with its political and social policies. Does anyone believe God would applaud us if we backed the same policies as Ahab or Athaliah? Were they not Jews?
