So Ann painted the liberal party with too broad a brush. Unless he's had a recent conversion, I've read more than once, Horowitz bemoaning the right's nice guy way of fighting political wars, and advocate that perhaps the right should adopt some of the tactics of the left.

As Horowitz points out, Ann's basic premise is correct. She just gave them a little ammo to fire back with.

Now.... take a nutball like Michael Moore where the entire premise is fantasy, the case concocted of lies, and the conclusions just plain wrong. I can't make any comparison between Coulter and Moore.

Can't do it.... wouldn't be prudent.

Ann drives nails into them, but the ghoulish socialists and their living dead enablers keep popping up from the graveyard.

Although there must be a rabid bunch sifting through Coulter's trash bins and franticly interviewing her 6th classmates for some dirt to toss, Horowitz has a big problem.

Horowitz states on his website he has been a life long advocate of our civil rights. This obviously includes the years he worked for that fun group called the Black Panthers. He can't have it both ways by being a later converted conservative and still claiming his prior subversive efforts as a plus. Ooops! That's too logical. I suppose he will explain that he was a 'sincere' Black Panther.

1959? You're just a kid. You are excused :-)

I haven't been back in decades but even in the 1960s, Manhattan was a place where if you didn't know everyone of note in a certain circle--Irish, Jewish, Chinese, whatever--you pretended you did.

Same thing is going on in Hollywood. The kids, grandkids and associates of the Hollywood Ten as well as the entire movie industry has a mythology built up around McCarthy and the blacklist.

Ann Coulter has taken on some deeply held beliefs.

"Though McCarthy is sniffed at even by conservatives for his flamboyant rhetoric, in 'Witness', Chambers explains the importance of a fellow such as McCarthy. Referring to the Hiss hearings, Chambers writes that theatrics were 'almost the only weapon the commitee possessed.' Without a 'flair for showmanship,' the committee's extremely important work exposing the Communist conspiracy would have been smothered in silence and reduced to nullity."
Whittaker Chambers, as quoted in "Treason"

"When she says things like "Liberals have a preternatural gift for striking a position on the side of treason" (on page one of the book!) she does more harm than good."

There are definitely some FReepers who are concerned Ann might hurt some people's feelings, I guess we can count you in that group!

"When she holds up McCarthy as a great man, instead of showing how he was a flawed individual who latched himself on to a good, important cause, that's absurd."

There are definitely some FReepers who feel as you do, but somehow they always seem like they are parrotting something they've been told, or read, but can't seem to back up with examples.

You can gauge Ann's success by the force of the liberals attacks on her.

If you read the Horowitz review of Treason then you realize that David agrees with Ann on the facts. He simply thinks that Ann did not pay careful enough attention to the "complexities" of the numerous apparent acts of treason by the left over the decades, from FDR to Lyndon Johnson; that is, they sure do appear to be treasonous acts, but it's, well.... it's more "complex" than that. Etc.

Ann doesn't dance like that. If it walks like a duck.... well, you know.

I, too, stand with Ann.

There are definitely some FReepers who are concerned Ann might hurt some people's feelings, I guess we can count you in that group!

There are tens of millions of Americans who consider themselves to be "liberal" and most of them are not bad people. Attacking them all is not very different than attacking all conservatives with a broad brush (and just because some leftists do that to us doesn't make it right, and it doesn't make it an effective political tactic)

There are definitely some FReepers who feel as you do, but somehow they always seem like they are parrotting something they've been told, or read, but can't seem to back up with examples.

How about his ever-shrinking list of communists that he liked to wave around?

I've never seen anyone take such heat and keep her cool...

Well, when one considers the source of the heat, (vapid liberal blowhards), Ann's composure is understandable.

You know, there is an old saying, "A leopard cannot change his spots."

He can paint himself another color.

He can shave his hair off.

But when the paint wears off and his hair grows back, the spots come back.

I know you are not stupid and that you know that Rabinowitz is a very common Jewish name

I know you are not stupid so why do you connect Dorothy Rabinowitz with these other Rabinowitzs who are lefties or communists?

Ann may have ben using the second meaning of the word.

TREASON: Betrayal of trust, disloyalty to a cause

The other night, someone pointed out a CHambers quote in book that would support this theory.
