Sounds just like life in the Third World. Funny thing. First millions of Third Worlders move to California, then California turns into the Third World. Amazing how that happens.

The California gravy train has hit the hard wall of reality and derailed. Tough way to learn why we don't vote for Democrats.
Wonder when the riots start, here in utopia?

How many Californians have moved out in the last five years? It seems like they are all over the midwest. I consider them refugees because they all tell of the horror stories in California. I have an aged aunt that lives in Orange county and she is very worried because they have closed the clinic near her home.

Absolutely!
From Tom McClintock -
California is not suffering a revenue shortfall. In the first four years of this administration, revenues have increased 25 percent while inflation and population combined have grown only 21 percent. The problem is that spending has increased 40 percent. Tax increases even legal ones cannot bail out a state that is increasing its spending almost twice as fast as its revenues. The Reason Foundation has identified $6 billion in wasteful bureaucracies that could be eliminated or consolidated, and another $9 billion in savings from contracting out -- $15 billion that could be cut out of the budget without affecting vital services. But such reforms are anathema to Californias powerful spending lobby, and none of them has been adopted.
When the federal government finally got serious about shutting down obsolete military bases, it conducted a comprehensive review and closed 90 of them, saving $20 billion -- and the military was stronger for it. For six years, I have proposed the same review mechanism for Californias obsolete and inefficient bureaucracies and last month that reform was killed on a party line vote for the sixth year in a row.
Jefferson once said that a little revolution every now and then is a healthy thing to prevent despotism from taking root -- as the Royal Governor of California is about to discover.

Here, I'll help California out, but just this time.
SB 01 as proposed by "representative" isthisnickcool:
Effective immediately the state of California will no longer fund any health care for any citizen other than US citizens. Any health care provided to non-citizens for emergency services will be billed to the individial. If not paid by the individual within 30 days the amount plus fees will be billed to the indiduals country of origin. In the event that the individual or country of orgin does not reimburse the state for such services within 90 days of the services the state will have the power to attach to assets owned by the individual or the country of origin in question.

I wouldn't necessarily get out the riot gear yet. I just have this nasty feeling that the rest of the country is going to be called upon (aka forced) to bail CA out.
To: isthisnickcool
We tried that. It was called prop. 187. A federal judge ruled it "unconstitutional". That was right about the time that I gave up hope for California and started planning to move. I left in early 2001, and have never looked back.

I gotta tell you that I turned in 20 signed recalls on Gov Dufus but I have reservations because the "handout" people must be affected & see that it was entirly the socialists that is causing them their pain. Without a recall possibly a whole new conservative group could arise...and the sun not come up tomorrow....but the pain starts when a RINO is elected just means nothing.

Effective immediately the state of California will no longer fund any health care for any citizen other than US citizens. Can I offer an amendment? "Effective immediately the state of California will no longer fund any health care." Otherwise, you'll stay in the same boat...

The conference committee agrees to your amendment. And suggests the same restrictions apply to "prescription drugs for seniors" and "anti-aids funding for Africa or any other country".

I can't wait till the GOP gets control of Congress and the White House and starts repealing some of the Democrats most egregious socialist programs...
Oh, wait, they are in power? Well, I hope these horrible socialist experiments we can't afford don't grow any bigger...

38 Billion??? Shoot...George B will pass that much out in Africa this week just for good PR...
Hey, a lot of things could be cut such as the Governor's limo and driver...
At the local level, it's always the school busses and school lunches that go first...
I didn't read anything about the gov't employees including the governor cutting their wages to save their state...
I wonder if we gave California to Mexico, would the aliens then move to Nevada???

Interesting article. I'm due over at Harbor UCLA in a little bit for a chest xay. Spent all morning in their out patient clinic, and have to go back and speak with someone about a fee waiver and get my perscriptions. Being a white US citizen, I don't hold out much hope about getting financial assistance, but when you don't feel well, what are you going to do? I'm sure all those Spanish speaking folks that were in the waiting room won't have to pay.
