I encourage all Freepers to read "The Language Police", by Diane Ravitch. I was glued to it. You'll never believe how dumbed down are textbooks have become, due to "Bias and Sensitvity" committees, that have infected the educational publishing companies. I could go on and on. What's good about it is that at the end she lists books for each grade level, that teachers can choose to augment their curriculum.

Excellent post. I like her writings, she's right on target.
I have 2 teens in publik skool, and we spend time making sure they are aware and learn more than what's taught. I worry about the kids whose parents don't realize how very dangerous this is, or who even think this is a good idea.
