Regarding your tag line...I hope that is VERY SOON. God bless you and your husband and thank him for his dedicated service to our country. We are proud of him and thankful for him too.

I am the mother of Spc James Kiehl. I also am ex-military having spent 5 1/2 years in Uncle Sam's Navy. I was stationed in Washington DC with the Commander, Naval Security Group, Naval Security Station, Bureau of Naval Personnel, Courier to the Pentagon, in general I served in the capacity of Naval Intelligence. Having said this I feel it would have been in the Military's best interest to have told not only the primary-kin, but the parents of the men and women who gave their lives in war. This would help put closure on their grief as well. Speaking from experience that I never would have dreamed possible, I have not yet truly grieved, why you ask; I still have not been informed of MY Son's death. I cannot ask my daughter-in-law Jill about this as all the posted comments insure that she would not/could not recount what the military had told her. I feel that either Randy or I might have/could have been moral/emotional/military support for her during this time. James had two sets of parents who loved him dearly Myself & Ed Howland his step-father, Randy & Jane Kiehl his step-mother. When he went to stay with his father, as all son's do; I was not always allowed to speak with him as I allowed him to do with his father. Be that as it may, I have always/will always love and miss my BIG boy that was a HERO not only in my eyes but everyone else's if all these messages are true. I wish to Thank Each and Every One of You that have sent condolences to me and my family. I also would like to send my Prayers and God Speed to all the Families of those who lost, have sent and will send their loved ones into this horrific war that we have named: Operation Iraqi Freedom.
