Woman of the century? She openly endorsed Planned Parenthood, leading killers on the planet. Allowed her name to be used for fundraising for Planned Parenthood. Gave $ to Planned Parenthood. etc. etc. etc.

Women of the Century shouldn't have an adulterous affair with someone else's husband for all those years. She should have the respect and decency to leave him alone and get her own man. She had a low opinion of marriage and showed it by her rotten behavior. It's hard to watch her characters in love scenes knowing that she was romancing another woman's husband, just as it's still hard to watch Rock Hudson kiss Doris Day knowing that he'd rather be kissing the cameraman. Hollywood has no shame, and we'll for sure be treated to a stand ovation for her memory at the next Oscar because (and probably only because) her social behavior was "in our face" the same way Michael Jackson is still feated at every oportunity.

And, alas, the answer to that is "no." Because for Planned Parenthood, every day is the Fall hunting season. Every day, these baby hunters get their bounties fulfilled. You see, it's still open season on our next generation of offspring. And there's no bag limit!

And the money Katie invested in Planned Parenthood lingers on post-mortem. It's a negative legacy that goes on killing...like the energizer bunny. And the money she helped raise for Planned Parenthood goes on as well.

She was a beautiful woman and a great actress. But she died with no descendants, and lived with another woman's husband. There is a huge, sad emptiness about it. Your children and grandchildren are your greatest legacy.

Translation: Please, please, since when has morality and the silver screen mixed? Our culture has compartmentalized this for years. So why start integrating it now? Thank for you slapping these geeks who would dare to trample on the likes of Miss Hepburn. My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting her at a party in 1995 - she drank scotch on the rocks and greeted everyone with good humor (even allowing the men to kiss her on the cheek). When my husband timidly shook her hand she bellowed: "Oh, shake hands like a MAN!" whereupon he grabbed her and gave her a hug. She was a great, great lady. People often conflate greatness with goodness but if you read these two letters, you'll see that the Great Kate possessed both.

I guessed I missed out bowing before "Great Kate" before she met her Creator (who also happened to create millions of others in the womb before the likes of Planned Parenthood snuffed them out).

"Great Kate": Board member of Planned Parenthood as of '92...rec'd some award from Planned Parenthood in '88...was a recipient of Planned Parenthood's Margaret Sanger award in '83...(wow, what an honor!)...

Planned Parenthood only snuffs out over 125,000 babies each year in Sanger's name...Sanger's efforts only made it easier for women to sleep around and get hurt (post-abortion syndrome; higher rates of breast cancer due to abortions; MUCH higher STD rates...some of which kill women--HPV (cervical cancer, which kills more American women each year than AIDs); emotional harm; makes it easier for men to avoid marriage; etc.

Sanger was an open racist who referred to Slav, Latin, and Hebrew immigrants as "human weeds" (April, 1933 edition of Birth Control Review). She called for in her book, THE PILOT OF CIVILATION, "the elimination of human weeds" labeling them as "reckless breeders." In a May 1919 publication of hers, her pure race eugenics ideals emerged as "more children from the fit, less from the unfit."

In her book, WOMEN AND THE NEW RACE (1920 & 1923), she became convinced that "the most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members it to kill it."

And Hepburn, whose mom worked tirelessly w/Sanger, was, of course, "honored" to be bestowed this Margaret Sanger award. Why? Well, she shared this philosophy --even to the point that when Sanger wrote "The marriage bed is the most degenerating influence in the social order", Hepburn lived her lifestyle according to this premise...not marrying...taking over the married bed of Tracy's wife.

But of course, anti-Sangerites are mere "geeks."

I would caution everyone to read this thread as if one were a new conservative, or thinking about the conservative movement. Imagine how your words would seem to such a person. Imagine whether that person would care to stay and find out more about conservatism, or perhaps might go elsewhere, being so repulsed by the tone of this thread.

I oppose abortion. I do not support Planned Parenthood. Miss Hepburn's support no doubt stemmed from her parents' work in that area, and she was of a different generation.

I think it is unnecessary to vilify her. She won't be troubling any of you any more.

No, "anti-Sangerites" are not all geeks. But I'm so tired of the sanctimonious, pious posters of FR who glom on to one aspect of a person's life and ride it for all its worth. For better or worse, most of Hepburn's views on reproductive rights came from her doctor father who treated women with venereal disease at his practice in Hartford, CT. But her views don't make her a fanatical abortionist/eugenicist/racist/Whore of Babylon. Hepburn spent most of her time making movies, appearing on Broadway, touring the world in Shakespeare's plays and trying to keep Spencer Tracy alive and well - not promoting Margaret Sanger's crazy theories.
