This effectively outlaws the Catholic Church in Hong Kong and also Protestant churches along with many other religious or political groups that do not explicitly act as arms of the Chinese Communist Party.
It is time to do away with the Chinese Communists.

Thanks for posting this, tallhappy. I was at the march from noon to 10:00pm. Got a moderate sunburn (33 degree C) and sore legs (10 hour walk). But I am a very happy man. Praise the Lord for leading our march. We have made Hong Kong history and the march is a smashing success.
The people have spoken but will the government listen. I am discussing with the key organizers our next step. Just watch.
Correction: the attendance should be more than half a million. The government always want to downplay the impact by under-reporting the number of people. They haven't counted those who cannot enter Victoria Park because it was already jam packed and are forced to cut in midway.
It's midnight in Hong Kong now and I am extremely sleepy and tired. I will follow up with my first person report together with some photos tomorrow.
Thanks again for your concern and support to our cause.

Re #1
Now that the economy inside China is taking off, the Chinese government has less use for Hong Kong's special status, where many internal dissenters escape to.
Predictable.

Correction: the attendance should be more than half a million. Yes, that seems accurate.
Maybe the admin can change the title to 500,000 or half a million.

State Department quote: "We do not believe in continuing the Western freedom construct for these once-free people. The United State does not encourage or support demonstrations against the Peoples Republic of China representatives in Hong Kong. Let the people of Hong Kong rejoice in being set free from the yoke of organized religion, a carryover from British rule."

Kudos to you and your fellow Hong Kongers! ;^)
Beijing's Communist regime is a paper tiger - the Chinese people could shed the Party in a day!
With Hong Kong's example in mind, they very well might.
To: tallhappy
Wouldn't it be ironic if instead of Hong Kong becoming an economic crutch for totalitarian China, it becomes the instrument by which the Chinese people are at long last freed?

Thank you so much, FreepForever for supporting HK. I miss my old "neighborhood" and have such sadness for those free people. May the nasty, thuggish communists be someday wiped out. Including ones here in the US. With little prodding, I'd include the "Democrat socialists" in that too!

State Department quote: "We do not believe in continuing the Western freedom construct for these once-free people..." For a moment, I wondered if they'd really said that...I wouldn't put it past them!

BTW..the general consensus seems to be developing that HK's standing as an economic force is slowly eroding....because of fers what the gov't might do someday...

Firearms were banned when Hong kong was a British colony and Fireworks were by permit. I can't imagine that's changed.

Note the big poster of Sun Yat-sen who was the George Washington of China's original revolution of 1911 where the Republic of China was established and the Republic of China flags (now referred to as the "Taiwan flag").
