For people wanting to help someone in distress, the best course of action is to contact the appropriate law enforcement authority and "refrain from providing transportation or other assistance . . . that may be viewed as furtherance of illegal entry." That, he said, could result in prosecution. Whoa...tell THAT to Rev. Robin Hoover, Jim Cooper, and other people aiding and abetting the invaders.

See here and here for more evidence of people providing "furtherance of illegal entry".

no reason for the goverment employees to get an attitude about it.
if the border patrol were not incompetent, civilian patrols would not be necessary.

Perhaps they could post up a web site?
It wouldn't be too hard to link up a web cam with the data feed. An "illegal-alien" cam would be hilarious. Imagine congressman sitting around in their offices watching Mexicans (and who else?) walking across the border live on the internet.

"...the Border Patrol... discourages private parties from taking matters into their own hands."Because they hate to be shown-up?

The video will be streaming on www.americanborderpatrol.com. We've already been streaming video from our ground operations for months.

I really don't think the Border Patrol is incompetent. I think they have been overwhelmed with the amount of illegals.
However, we will soon find out with the pictures coming in.
It is interesting that they called Spencer's group a NGO.

Oh, man, Spiff, you beat me to it!!!
The BP's spokesman, Mr. Amarillas, just opened the door for federal criminal complaints against the likes of the Humane Borders people!!

i live in socal.
many of us, including u.s. representative daryl issa, resent passing thru' the temecula and san onofre check stations when the border patrol produces little positive results.
it's a waste of our time.
both the 5 and the 15 are 8 lane freeways at those points. this means that both 4 north-bound lanes back up for MILES!
if the border patrol were not incompetent, they would remove these posts and place these employees to lessen being overwhelmed, to use your word.

if the border patrol were not incompetent, civilian patrols would not be necessary. The Border Patrol is not incompetent.
If civilian patrols had to follow the same policy and regulations sent down from Washington, then they would be ineffective also.
The problem is in Washington, not the Border Patrol.
To: Marine Inspector
the border patrol is incompetent.

many of us, including u.s. representative daryl issa, resent passing thru' the temecula and san onofre check stations when the border patrol produces little positive results. During an eight-month period in 2001, agents working at checkpoints nationwide arrested 81,124 aliens, criminals, and other law violators and seized over 365,808 pounds of marijuana and cocaine.
Sounds like your misinformed.
To: liberalnot
the border patrol is incompetent. Do you have facts to back up that assertion?
To: Marine Inspector
excuse me, i've lived in southern california for 20 years.
we live daily with border patrol incompetence.
oh, i get it!
once i criticized the oil industry on this forum. all hell broke loose from the wife of an oil industry employee. how dare i criticize the oil industry?
in a "republic" people have the right to express their opinions, whether it offends you or not.

It is interesting that they called Spencer's group a NGO.It's good that the group is a non-governmental organization. If they were being supported by the government, who the heck would trust them? American Border Patrol looks to be telling the truth, whereas this government is an ongoing lie.
The BP agents on the ground do the best they can with what they are provided. They aren't the problem, IMO.

The check points are too far inland. That is the fault of the government not the Border Patrol. All the smugglers know the back roads around these.
