but when is this misery going to end?

That's what I want to know. It will help if "Gay" Davis gets recalled. Hang in there, pal. (I'm stuck here, too.)

Dear Spot,

Look on the bright side. Enjoy all the fabulous things that The Golden State has to offer: beaches, mountains, fabulous fruit and vegetables, wine--the list goes on and on. Take your kids to the museums, on field trips, etc., talk to them, teach them all the things you love, suppliment their education.

When you have time off, go to Big Sur and Mount Shasta. Esalen is fabulous any time of the year. On the way to Mount Shasta, stop by The Olive Pit. When you get there, spend a night or two at Squaw Meadow (be sure it's summertime, and still bring warm clothes). If you bring a friend, you might want to drop by Indian Hot Springs for a day of outdoor jaccuzing in the gorgeous California sun.

Eat morrels and chanterelles until they're coming out your ears. It's hard to get them in many parts of the country.

In other words, live it up while you're there.

When the 10 years are up, you will be out of college and there will be jobs. Furthermore, having done California, you can move somewhere else and do that! As fabulous as California is, there are many places just as fabulous. You might like to try Hawaii, the Georgia coast, the Smoaky Mountains, Florida, New York City, New England, Texas, just to mention a few. By then, your children will be getting old enough to visit you or maybe go to college where you live.

Don't let the "Liberal" bastards get you down--it's what they want; they're not worth it; and if they do, they win.

As long as you're stuck in sunny California, you might as well look on the sunny side.

I hope this helps!

You're welcome,

Dear Abb...oops! I mean Savage Beast

What are you talking about?

Everyone knows that the Indigenous populations in the Americans lived in a complete and utter Utopia until the Evil White Man came along...

I'll let them build a monument to Quetzalcoatal if I can build a monument right next to it for Cortez.

And one next to for Cortez for the fellow who basically repeated his march from the
sea to capture Mexico City, General Winfield Scott (and his supporting cast
which included some nobodies named Robert E. Lee, U.S. Grant, and Jefferson Davis).

I've got to admit I was a bit freaked out when PBS actually detailed the story
in their special on The Mexican-American War.
When about 10,000 guys can land on your beach (at Veracruz) unoppossed,
burn their bridges and simply march up the same road that Cortez took to capture a city of
about half a million...now that'w worth a statue.

As I tell some liberal friends who comment about how many Hispanics are in our
military and how wonderful it is for "diversity", I say this.
"Yeah, great. But I suspect the reason they join is they got finally decided to
be on the winning team this time. And I respect that sort of brainpower!"

Many peaceful tribes but many were addicted to war and conflict and perhaps the Amerindian version of Jihad. Islam is a warrior cult and so were many tribes.
