I think the article just didn't say it clearly.

I think that they are targeting US troops AND powerplants.
This one may have targeted the soldiers and hit the power transformer, or it was aimed at the power transformer all along.

"U.N. atomic experts have tracked down tons of the uranium feared stolen from Iraq's largest nuclear research facility, much of it apparently found on or near the site"

Scarborough was talking about this last night - he speculated the democrats would use "nuclear" as the next attack, seeing as how the lack of WMD was not producing the lower numbers for Bush they had hoped.

And ... seeing has how Rush wrote a great editorial about Levin's amnesia on WMD's, and the investigations have not turned up ONE PERSON who refutes what Bush has been saying ... nuclear was the next step! These people are getting so tiresome.

One of the things I noticed about the reports of the latest arrest (Ace of Diamonds) was that he was relying on "friends" for a place to stay. What I find interesting is that quite a few of the arrests have stated "family" was hiding them - or they were going from "family" to "family" every few days - to keep from being spotted and turned in. I also believed they kept quiet because they knew their families would be killed if they talked.

If this guy HAS NO FAMILY - it may be why he's so willing to give up so much information. He might even tell us where Saddam is - which would be the greatest find and shut the dems up (for a few days).

FOX has been running the story all day. Besides, you know how the President is - he doesn't want speculation out there - he would rather wait until we positive of what we have, and sometimes, we don't want our enemies to know what we have.

There have been attacks on infrastructure - and there have been attacks on our soldiers. This latest incident just happened to be against soldiers, but hit the power plant instead.

"It seems to me that after Saddam had the stuff buried, he killed anyone and everyone who was aware of where it was buried"

It's funny you should say that, because I thought the same thing a while ago. They found a fresh grave site with about 200 people in it. According to witnesses, just a few days before the war started, several busses came to that location in the middle of the night - full of young men. Several hours later, the busses left - EMPTY. Could this have been the young men from the army who were ordered to bury the stuff ...?? Interesting ...??

Isn't that what the Pharaohs did when they wanted to hide the location of their tombs? (I admit watching one too many "mummy" movies.)

However, Saddam used to think of himself as a potentate, and he watched a LOT of movies.

Maybe that is exactly what he did.

U.S. troops didn't secure the area until April 7. In the meantime, looters from surrounding villages stripped it of uranium storage barrels they later used to hold drinking water.

And now, after drinking the water, they find themselves much in demand in the electricityless town because they glow in the dark :)

"Saddam used to think of himself as a potentate"

LOL - there's no "think" about it - He believed he was the reincarnated KING of Babylon. He believed he was destined to restore Babylon to its former glory.

That's not necessarily inconsistent. If a power center is being protected by troops, then an explosive fired at the troops can be simultaneously aimed at the machinery, all you have to do is fire from the proper angle so that if you miss the troops you hit the machinery, which appears to be what happened.

Ironically he may in fact have been the trigger to restore Babylon to its former glory... by forcing us to evict him and put in a decent government, it may very well create the conditions for a new prosperity there.

"Also, just as we found these, I am sure we will find direct evidence of Iraq's WMD programs too."

Dream on! Our "intelligence" should have been following this trail all along. I can't believe we had intelligence in Iraq that could pinpoint meetings of high ranking officials but cannot turn up the massive quantities of WMD we were told existed. Only the gullible will believe the WMD stories now. In Bush's defense he did not lie to the American public, he was given misleading intelligence.

Sure, for 12 years everyone, all the various countries intelligence services, including UN inspectors merely imagined the WMD, is that easier for you to believe, than that they existed all right, but Saddam had a great deal of time, during which he hid it or moved it to another county and flushed some of it down the Eurphrates river ( they found large amount of mustard gas and cyanide in the river water)

That's quite true - but the Bible says actual "Babylon" - which may mean their attitudes, etc. - will be totally destroyed.
