I will always remember the day Dale died. It seemed like any other crash at the time, but the look in DW's eyes as Michael won is another thing I can still picture. He said something like, that was a hard crash, I hope Dale is ok as he looked toward the wreck. But, he wasn't and he will always be the man that made Nascar as popular as it is today.
I remember going out to Riverside back in the day and watching all of them run, it was great!! In those days you could even stand in the pits of someone who had left for the day and we even ran across pit road one time to that little area in front right by the track, can you imagine that!! Wow, that wouldn't happen now.
Someday I would love to have a motorhome and go from race to race. Today I am going to add Boris Said to my list because I think that ARMY car needs a win for the boys still in Iraq and for Jerry. They are getting picked off one by one almost every day now. I know some of them can watch or listen to the race and a win would definitely be a moral booster.
Thanks for the E ping.

G'afternoon Norm! Got plenty on ice? The wifey just headed over to the store for ours.......watching GrandAm from Watkins Glen right now (14 starters, 5 hours of racing on SPEED, ughhh what an group!).
I'm going to be PO'd if Robbie bumps Boris out on L1.

Thanks for the ping. Let's see if FOX can keep up their streak of having the wrecks during commercials ;-) I HATE coming back to the race and seeing the yellow flag and crash already over.
Nice change from ovals anyways...

Good article Norm.
I don't think NASCAR is trying to shedd it's southern roots. RJR dumped NASCAR, NASCAR didn't dump RJR. I blame the Democrats and their anti-tobacco, anti-business, anti-South hysterics.

Leaving now to join the other Nascholes at the local watering hole. While I still am the current champ from last year, this year has been a disaster and I'm mired deep in last place with no hope of getting out.
So, my pick of the week that will have something happen to not have a good finish is:
Tony Stewart #20. Sorry Tony.

Sammy Haggar visits the Dale Earnhart Terrace above Turn 2 with Fox Sports FOX Sports Jun. 19, 2003 6:09 p.m. A road course through California's wine country will serve as Sunday's setting for a sport born in the business of running moonshine, and has since grown into a national passion. NASCAR on FOX' Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds and Darrell Waltrip call the 2003 season finale, live from Sonoma, California's Infineon Raceway on Sunday, June 22 (3:30 PM ET/12:30 PM PT). Sunday's coverage begins from inside the "Hollywood Hotel," NASCAR on FOX' traveling prerace studio. This 30-minute countdown to the dropping of the green flag is hosted by Chris Myers with analysts Jeff Hammond, and Waltrip. This week's show will take a look at Matt Kenseth's quiet domination of the first half, handicap the remainder of the season and welcome two surprise guests.
