....their constituencies are not likely to vote them out. .......federal prosecutors can bring charges, and conviction of federal felonies will end their political careers.

What about ending their legal carrers? Boxley and Silver are lawyers (not sure about Assemblywoman Susan John).

The American Bar Association and the New York Bar Association should answer questions about the legal fitness of its membership.

The American Bar Association and the New York Bar Associaiton should advise the public whether it allows members who corrupt the US justice system to retain their positions as duly sworn officers of the court.

The American Bar Association and the New York Bar Association should answer questions about its membership criteria.

Does the American Bar Association and the New York Bar Associaiton consider lawyers who collude in covering up crimes to be members in good standing? Does the American Bar Association and the New York Bar Association consider a lawyer who participates in the corruption of the judicial system to be a worthwhile sworn officer of the court?

Should clients who retain members of the American Bar Association and the New York Bar Association expect to be represented by counsel that covers-up crimes?

Does the American Bar Association and the New York Bar Association consider the actions of members who engage in the following kinds of activities to be the profile of the average practicing lawyer?

Silver sounds like he would be right at home in Iran as a ruling thug or in Iraq before the regime change.

I feel it is sedition, as well as dereliction of duty.
They lawmakers are sworn to uphold the laws, as well as represent their constituents.

The apathy of the voters in this state is what's gonna work against getting Shelly Silver and his ilk out.
Gotta get this stuff out there to the public.

How "unreasonable to actually think lawmakers should heed their sworn oath of office.

Article XIII - Section 1 - Public Officers - Oath Members of the legislature, and all officers, executive and judicial, except such inferior officers as shall be by law exempted, shall, before they enter on the duties of their respective offices, take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the constitution of the United States, and the constitution of the State of New York, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of _____________ according to the best of my ability."

PUBLIC LAW 96-303
TITLE 5. GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION AND EMPLOYEES
PART III. EMPLOYEES
Subpart F. Labor-Management and Employee Relations
CHAPTER 73. SUITABILITY, SECURITY, AND CONDUCT
SUBCHAPTER I. REGULATION OF CONDUCT
Section 7301. Presidential regulations

(NY) CODE OF ETHICS FOR GOVERNMENT SERVICE (signed into law on July 3, 1980) ANY PERSON IN GOVERNMENT SERVICE SHOULD:

I. Put loyalty to the highest moral principles and to country above loyalty to persons, party, or Government department.

II. Uphold the Constitution, laws, and regulations of the United States and of all governments therein and never be a party to their evasion.

III. Give a full day's labor for a full day's pay; giving earnest effort and best thought to the performance of duties.

IV. Seek to find and employ more efficient and economical ways of getting tasks accomplished.

V. Never discriminate unfairly by the dispensing of special favors or

VI. Make no private promises of any kind binding upon the duties of office, since a Government employee has no private word which can be binding on public duty.

VII. Engage in no business with the Government, either directly or indirectly, which is inconsistent with the conscientious performance of governmental duties.

VIII. Never use any information gained confidentially in the performance of government duties as a means for making private profit.

IX. Expose corruption wherever discovered.

X. Uphold these principles, ever conscious that public office is a public trust.

I read this, and it is clear that Silver egregiously violates EACH AND EVERY aspect of the Ethics Code.
