not every VP selected is always "the best possible person" for the job. I am comfortable with Rice's qualifications.

.... i'd send Cheney for a sex change operation if I thought his (her) presence on the ticket could stop Hillary.

Wouldn't his family be proud?!

Why would Condi have to marry a man of her own race?

... "Bill's third term" ...

Having Bill back in the White House would be a nightmare for all concerned. Does a "First Gentleman" have interns?

My comments were regarding marajade, not whether Paul or Alan are Republicans.

"I'm a Republican... but I'm not the one running for Pres... "

::sigh:: I suppose I'll have to spell it out since you don't seem to be picking up on subtle innuendo.

Your original statement, the one I was commenting on, was: "If it was Keyes vs. Hillary, I'd really have to think long and hard who to vote for... and Hillary would probably win out..."
My reply to that was: "This says a lot about the current state of the "Republicans". Likely much more than you intended to state"

Now, if you are a Republican, and you could stomach Hillary Clinton over either Ron Paul or Alan Keyes, then this says things about the Republican Party as a whole.
Things you may not want to admit to.

Given a choice between the more libertarian side of the right wing and the absolute extreme left wing of Hillary, you would choose Hillary.

Anyone else on this post think this is a scary thing to hear a die hard Republican say?

And marajade, do you understand my point yet?

It doesn't say a thing about the Republican Party except that if Keyes or Paul is the candidate they are a loser party...

Sorry, but it DOES say a lot more than that about the Republican party.

It says to me, that there are "Repubicans" who find themselves less uncomfortable with Hillary than with Ron Paul or Alan Keyes.

...and THAT speaks volumes about this type of "Republican".

no real Republican would ever consider voting for Hitlery over Paul or Keyes. I would vote for anyone to keep her out of office. I would say for certain that marajade does not represent the majority of the Republican party. If he/she does, then I agree, I weep for the party.

Paul is a Libertarian in Republican clothing... Keyes is a windbag with an "R" by his name... So, they aren't real Republicans anyway...

"no real Republican would ever consider voting for Hitlery over Paul or Keyes"

Hi Charlie, that was the point I was trying to help marajade understand. If she is truthful about choosing Hillary over Paul or Keyes, then she's never been a real conservative, let alone a Republican. If she believes she represents the Republican party, then she's making a very low point about Republicans in general.

"No one will ever go broke underestimating the taste of the American people." H.L.Mencken.

If Mencken were alive today, he'd surely add "intelligence and judgement" to his perceptive phrase -- ESPECIALLY where the klintoons are concerned.

I don't know anything about Jeb, but I will tell you this. I will be voting for W in 2004, but I would be highly reserved about another Bush in 2008. In fact, unless Jeb comes out $h!++!ng gold-plated rose petals, I would vote against him. I don't know how many others would feel the same, but that's my $0.02. I always try to take a logical position based on the facts as I understand them, however, on this issue, my gut tells me no more Bush for a few years, perhaps 2012 or later.
