My 70 year old dad (twice divorced, third wife died) is leaving this evening for a trip to Hong Kong to meet a woman he "met" on the Internet. He says that SARS is "over" in Hong Kong. The woman is from somewhere on mainland China.

The odds are in his favor, but talk about the triumph of hope over experience!

Given the widely suspected seasonal nature of SARS, the exact definition of "widespread" may not matter. All it takes is too be widely disseminated enough to pop up in many places in Toronto, essentially all at once, when the flu & cold season starts.
