France has no army and no police anymore. France is declining fast, demographically speaking and economically speaking. France does not serve its own interest: as a part of the West, if it was the case, she would have to be on the side of the West, and so on the side of the United States.

France has two modern SSBN of the Le Triomphant class and two older L'Inflexible class SSBN's. I don't know how they would stand up to our LA class SSNs.
The French attack subs are lacking. It's three older ones have a poor hulls structure and are slow. The three newer ones are only the equivalent of the LA class, which we are now retiring.

the french surface fleet is a running joke. The new aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle was improperly designed and keeps breaking down. (I believe they had to tow their only capital ship into port.)
The French have finally gotten around to retiring the Chance-Vought F8 Crusader (yep, the one that was in the US navy untill it was replaced by the F4 Phantom.) The French Rafale looks like a nice plane, but their primary strike platform remains the Super Entard, another 1950's jet.
The Franch lack any serious anti-missle capability.

The French fleet losses badly to the American Atlantic fleet in Harpoon III and Fleet Command scenarios. I don't think that they would do any better in reality unless they threated to nuke us.
