For what it's worth, Americans, by and large, are an impatient people. The really tough problems that come up in a marriage can not be soved quickly, if at all. They take patience. They may even take an adjustment to the fact that there can be no solution to the differences between the man and woman. Maybe the best that can be hoped for is an adjustment to a less than expected union. This is hard for impatient American problem solvers to do. So they divorce.
