So I went to Circut City. WRONG AGAIN!!! Also sold out

I didn't think there were that many Zep fans left! I am happily suprised to find that I am wrong.

It's a testament to how much today's music sucks compared to the stuff back then.

It's a testament to how much today's music sucks compared to the stuff back then. It is sad that you are correct.
Back in the 1970's (1968 for you know-it-all's) a quartet of 20-something Englishmen put together a rock band. Thirty years later, their music not only stands the test of time but kicks the living shit out of it!

It's a testament to how much today's music sucks compared to the stuff back then.Nevermind "today's" music, how about comparing Zep to the hairbands of the 70s....Yikes!
BTW, it's hard to think of these guys as being in their fifties.

There is plenty of good music around. You just have to dig for it. And you're not likely to hear it on the radio.

Remarkably, the band's leader and guitarist, Jimmy Page (news), who compiled the releases, says he remembers all the concerts as if they were yesterday.it is amazing how the mnd absorbs the details of a good performance. You could take any of the handful of great piano concerts I've been to in the past few years and walk through the score with me and I could tell you exactly what the performer was doing, most of the time. I have no idea why I retain such detail in those particular moments.

"It's a testament to how much today's music sucks compared to the stuff back then. It is sad that you are correct."I have a 21 year old who has STOLEN all of my Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd record and CD collections. Amazing. I would have never stolen one of my parents Dino or Frank's records.
Actually, she asked, but when I say STOLEN, it gets a rise out of her. ;)

Ironic that Led Zeppelin got their name from a quote from someone (was it Ringo?) who thought that the band would go over like a "lead zeppelin."

It's a generational thing. If you had been born 10 years earlier, you'd be getting down with Frankie Avalon now!
And dude, Paul Anka rocks!

(was it Ringo?) I've read it was Ringo. I've also read it was possibly Keith Moon or John Entwhistle.
Whoever it truly was will likely be a mystery.

It's amazing how much quality went into the music of Zep eventhough, I think it was totally a coincidence.
I agree with JP when he said, "Spontaneity was the key, which is why the band decided to call it a day rather than try to feign improvisation with a new drummer."
What was totally amazing was the improv ability of the four of them that would constantly, totally cliq.
The dvd should be quite interesting.

Whofacts In 1968, Entwistle and Moonie were thinking about leaving the Who and forming a group with Jimmy Page. Entwistle gloomily sugessted that the projected supergroup would go over like a "lead balloon". It went over as a Led Zeppelin, without he and Moonie.
