I think that a lunatic might see America as the equivalent of those two.
Just as it would require a blind and self-centered follower, who likely would have been equally at home under either the Soviet or Nazi regimes, and ignorant of history to boot, not to take notice of certain parallels and similarities between all three societies. Particularly as they grow more numerous.

Its interesting to note a Key figure..who according to authors John Toland, [Adolf Hitler]and Alan Bullock, [Hitler A Study In Tyranny]is in oppostion at times to Hitler and his party cronies.
The Key figure...Franz Von Papen.
The connection of the Vatican to Hitlers solidification of power is evident..as in the 1934 Von Papen public address.."The Third Reich is the first power which not only recongnizes,but puts into practice the higher principals of the Papacy"[Der Voelkischer Beobachter Jan/1934]
Fran Von Papen slides in and is recieved by Herr Hindenburg into the Weimar Republic...this is way beyond Adolf Hitlers doing.
As the historical goes...Hitler transits from period to period with these public confirmatory events...eventually finding their greatest allegence act by the Armed forces which swear oath to Adolf Hitler.
Franz Von Papen was instrumental in the formation and contunuance of the 3rd Reich...He was one of the few to walk from the Nuremburg Trials : )

Make it a slightly larger truck, say a deliveryman's cube van or larger U-Haul rental, add in some railroad ties and labor organizer's *jackrock* caltrops or police-issue *stopsticks* and a six-gallon bucketfull of homemade pipebombs on timers [with a few antidisturbance tumbler-fired units to discourage immediate hasty clearance] and you'd be right in business. The tactic is essentially a variation of that used by the Union raiders who hijacked the Western and Atlantic locomotive General during the War of Northern Dominance and who hoped to slow pursuing Confederate forces.

The constitution shredding commissars in waiting had better understand: cross that Rubicon and they will be in the crosshairs, personally.
