You're right....when you read his words they are out of the old playbook. Notice how outdated this sounds. In the 30 years since this speech, many - though not all - of the people who supported this thinking grew up and became very conservative. Scheer hasn't learned the lessons of history.

You did a very good job here. Scheer is another communist who tells us he cares while fattening his bank account and disrupting our society. Hypocrits like this never move to the lands of Cuba or Viet Nam they say they love.

Thank you, and you are welcome.

DPB101, maybe you would like to post it? Feel free. I'm not very good with links, especially to audio.

Fracas, you are so right about the dog LOL!

Here you go:

Sometimes upgrading to a newer version can be a good thing. Other times, your computer may not be compatible with the new version, the new version is bloated, or all the good options are no longer available. If you are looking for an old version of any program, OldVersion.com should be your first stop. We are an archive of old versions of various programs. If you don't see the program or a version of a program that you are looking for, tell us and we'll try our best to add it.

Thank you. Glad the headline caught your eye. My problem is an old Power Mac which refuses to die. Upgrading it makes no sense. Does everything I could ask for except it does not enough memory or processor power for the post 1999 Real Players. Got you filed away though to share with others and for the day this machine coughs its last.

Received in email today that the speech of Scheer's you transcribed is in "Richard Robert's Newsletter". Is it yours? Don't have a copy of it and this is the first the newsletter has come to my attention. Know anything about it?

I'd take my full load of papers to the top of the route,

Did you ever contemplate on why you took that paper all the way to the top only to bring it all the way down again?

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, someone in my office subscribes so I asked if I could see it and there it was. I know it was my transcription because of the way it started out.

The: Here you go. Bob Scheer in all his glory!

and how I started the first paragraph with the: Um.. were both my interpretations.

He did edit out the dog barking comments LOL - and the paragraph about the Canadian magazine, McLeans. Other than that it's all there. I'm happy to see it's gotten wider dissemination than what was seen here.

Thanks again for letting me know!

Hi, no I don't believe that is the correct Richard Roberts. But I think you can find some other examples of his work at these links:

Seizing power

By Richard Roberts
© 2001 WorldNetDaily.com

The Third Way between socialism and capitalism was the original brainchild of Adolph Hitler. It reared its head again in America in 1990, when Bill Clinton, the stealth-socialist candidate, became chairman of its principal organization, the Democratic Leadership Council. Tony Blair and the heads of most European countries are Third Way advocates and work in concert to implement this socialist shell game.

Government control of power sources is the first target of The Third Way because, by means of it, a country's people can be completely controlled, even brought to their knees. It is my thesis here that California's energy crisis has been government-orchestrated in order to provide the state with an opportunity to socialize the utility industry, just as surely as the Clintons attempted to nationalize health care.

Playing Us for Suckers

By Richard Roberts

There’s a battle brewing out in Oregon that has all the elements of great Westerns pitting sodbusters (farmers) against cattlemen, except in this case no cavalry will be riding over the hill to save the farmers, because the guys wearing the black hats are the federal government. In fact the folks taking away their livelihood are with the Fish and Wildlife Service, and the weapon they are using against the farmers is better than any damn Colt revolver. It’s called the "Endangered Species Act."

Say, didn’t that used to be called the Fish and Game Service before hunting got a bad name, and game became "wildlife"?

Anyhow, I’ll spin this yarn in terms that George Bush, bein’ a Texan, can maybe understand. Y’see, it all goes back nearly a hundred years to another president, "Teddy" they called him for short. Up in Oregon the Klamath River comes tumblin’ down from the Cascades all the way to the Pacific. Alongside of it is some of the richest river bottom soil you ever did see. Good for growin’ grazin’ grasses for cattle, or crops. Only problem is there ain’t enough rain. But Teddy stepped in, and in 1907 the gummit finished his Klamath Project, which used the river to irrigate 200,000 acres. Heck, the Pacific Ocean’s got enough water! Uncle Sam sent out the word for homesteaders, and they came. Built farms, gave us wheat, barley, alfalfa. Why, put a stick in the ground and it would sprout.

Back in 1907, the gummit promised the farmers water forever, but a feller named Steve Lewis, biologist by trade, made a fishy decision. Said the sucker fish livin’ in Upper Klamath Lake needed more water on account of the drought, so the Department of Reclamation went back on their word and welded the irrigation gates shut. Guess folks know now how the Indians felt.

Judge Ann Aikin said, "While it is clear that the farmers face severe hardship, the threat to the survival of the fish is greater." Well, where she lives I guess it’s all concrete, and she gets her water by turning on a tap. Like as not she’d have a fit if one day no water came out. ‘Tho probably she drinks that fancy bottled stuff from France. Anyhow, I ‘spect she’s never come out to see what the farmers are up against. The ground out here crumbles like old cement.

Guest Column : The Prospects For Peace
by Richard Roberts
May 1, 2002

It should be clear by now that we are facing a death cult, not seen since Japan's kamikaze pilots of World War II. Without the atomic bomb to end the war, we would have faced enormous casualties in a land invasion of the Japanese homeland. What can the U.S. and Israel do in the face of this jihad? The only way you and your country will survive is by killing or rendering harmless the members of this Islamic death cult. There is no greater obscenity in the world today than the spectacle of adults programming their children to die as suicide bombers. And some of our media are seeking to glorify this obscenity. When I was very young, my mother had hired a German nanny, who proceeded to indoctrinate my sister and me in her agenda. One day when my mother came home, I greeted her, "Heil Hitler, Mama!" Needless to say, the nanny was fired on the spot. But I hope my parents also notified the FBI about her.

Children, as Limbaugh says, have "skulls full of mush," waiting to be educated by learning how to think, or indoctrinated in what to think, the present p.c. agenda of the schools and media. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his child for God, Who stayed his hand. The Palestinians are all too ready to sacrifice their children in the cause of a death cult that is no nobler than Hitler's willing to sacrifice the German youth.

Not too long ago, there was a death cult in America, the followers of Heaven's Gate. These people believed that upon death, they went directly to their version of heaven, so they did themselves in. No one in our media glorified them, because that did not suit their purposes. However, ennobling the death cult of the Palestinian suicide bombers enables them to compromise support for our President's war on terrorism. If Israel should not retaliate against the suicide bombers, whose cause may be just (say the media), then an international court should be tasked to bring bin Laden to the bar of justice. Furthermore, there should be no military action against Saddam, nor should we build a missile defense.

Obviously following such an agenda enables our enemies to grow stronger, so that the next hit we or Israel take may be from one of Saddam's "weapons of mass destruction." This was the track that Clinton had set the country on. Bush has shown that he is wiser.

And here is the link to his recent newsletter which includes my transcript of Scheer's speech:

TOUTING BUSH "LIES" OILS THE PATH FOR "HONEST" HILLARY CLINTON

©Richard Roberts 7/20/03

Evidently I have been laboring under the illusion that my newsletters provide you with at least a partial education in history, political science, and current events. Strangely, too, I thought my cautionary words about media bias had inoculated you against becoming "sheeple," led to the slaughter of the intellect. What would inspire someone to resort to Barbra Streisand (appropriately referred to as "bs" by Limbaugh) for enlightenment about current affairs?

Consider the situation of the Jew in Nazi Germany. The German people, viewing a Jew from the perspective of Goebbels’ propaganda, sees not a human being but a subhuman animal. Similarly, the perspective of the Left today on President Bush is of a man hell-bent on destroying the nation, who knew an attack was coming on 9/11 and did nothing, and who told us lies in order to wage war on an innocuous Iraq in order to seize the oil fields for himself and his cronies, and who now uses the excuse of the war to incarcerate his opponents. The Left’s sudden preoccupation with TRUTH is startling, since the majority are Marxist-Nihilists, professing that there is no one truth, nor an objective truth, but only many relative truths whereby that truth is determined by the persuasiveness of argument.

Thus we were told during the Clinton impeachment that "it all depends on what the meaning of ‘is’ is." And also, that Clinton could not be lying because he was lying about sex, which you see is permissible in the canon of Nihilism. Therefore, by force of rational argument and also utilizing articles from two other websites, I propose to demonstrate unequivocally that those who say that Bush lied when he said, "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa," THEMSELVES LIED. First of all, show me the lie in Bush’s statement. The claim of the lie is the media’s spin. Papers have trumpeted it in bold headlines, and TV networks have repeated it for two weeks. Goebbels said repeat the lie often enough, and it becomes (if not truth) acceptable.

[snip]

and here's where my transcript starts, about 3/4 of the way down the page -

SCHEER’S ADDRESS TO THE CROWD AT "OAKLAND 7" RALLY

Here you go. Bob Scheer in all his glory!

The Managing Editor of Ramparts magazine, Bob Scheer.

Applause

Um…I don’t really understand the mood of this rally too much. I understand it less now. There seems to be something obscene or bizarre about seven kids being in jail for trying to stop the war and there’s music going on and the noise and this carnival atmosphere.

And my fear about the next few years in America is that people are going to be picked off and put in jail for long periods of time. Attempts will be made to crush the movement, and there are going to be very serious attempts. And most people in this society, even most people who think that they’re in opposition, will be able to go about their normal lives, maybe sign a few petitions.

Richard Roberts has just completed his ninth book, America Hijacked: How Marxist-Nihilism Infiltrated America.
