I understand your frustration and I don't disagree with what you say, however in the business's defense I'd have to say that the Mexican's (illegal aliens) usually only get the jobs that Americans don't want. For instance in S.E. Georgia the Mexicans do most of the Blueberry hand picking, Onion planting and harvesting & Pinestraw baling. Trust me when I tell you that the High School kids and most Americans won't do this type of labor work anymore.

After the H1-B, L1 fiasco and practically open borders, it is clear that the US government is discouraging American citizens from working.

I have written to my senators (Texas) about the illegal problem. Nice, nonranting, letters that asked for their help in stopping this situation. Five months later I have yet to receive a reply. This is really high on their list of things to do. Yeah right!

My three eldest sons all began woking at the same Micky D's when they turned 14. The reason the second two were hired was because of the work ethic of my oldest. My 20 & 18 yr old are in college, and work elsewhere now, but my 15 yr old will stay at McDonald's til he is 16 and can get a job somewhere else. They have all complained to me about the ESL of the majority of new hires (Turks and Latinos). Customers get upset because the help can't understand their order, and my boys have had to work harder to pick up the slack. We don't have any ESL people living around here, and so the only reason these folks are hired must be because of corp. demands, or lower wages paid.

Check around. A lot are legal but the illegals are growing rapidly it's a real problem here. I have nothing against legal immigration and have latino friends. I have a lot against illegals of any source.

Another factor in all of this is the raising in the minimum wage when the economy was experiencing the technology/telecommunication/dotcom bubbles. A lot more jobs would have been available if the minimum wage were lower.

The companies that hire them need prosecuted to the full extent of the law... of course this will never happen... Should file a class action against the corporations that hire them.We should also sue them for the amount our taxes are increased in order to provide the illegals health care - unless these employers provide that, which I doubt they do.
To: BeerSwillr
Well, God bless you and your son. I hope something comes up. I expect that you've searched all the job boards online. Still, I cannot help but think that there must be some place that will hire your son.
Good luck!

Trust me when I tell you that the High School kids and most Americans won't do this type of labor work anymore. They're doing it in my area with few illegals yet, not just teenagers but all ages. We have no problems filling entry-level jobs.

FWIW: The Mexican government encourages illegal emigration to the U.S. because [1] it cannot provide enough jobs for its own people, [2] those who customairly emmigrate are the same who would incite revolution against an inept govenment. Illegal immigration serves as a 'pressure relief valve for the Mexican government.
Illegal Mexicans not only unfairly take jobs but are the primary source for illegal narcotics in the U.S. Drug traffickers send approximately 80% of their income South. To invest it in the U.S. would subject it to seizure when / if they are apprehended.
If you doubt the amount of money being sent South, visit any post office to see who is buying money orders, visit Western Union, or any of the number of officies which specialize in money transfers. The U.S. economy is being bled in underhanded, yet sanctioned, 'foreign aid' in the form of wages and drug proceeds sent outside the U.S.

I too know Mexicans who are in the US legally, and believe it or not they really have no great love for those that come here illegally.

Man, if someone worked for 3.25 an hour they are either extremely stupid or extremely desperate. If I was a 15 year old kid who needed a summer job, there's no way in hell I would do that!
When I was 15, I was making FIFTEEN DOLLARS AN HOUR by offering my services in the newspaper...basically I went around showing old ladies how to use computers. This was about 7 years ago when no one really knew how to use computers. (they still don't)
At the SAME TIME I was mowing lawns for 20 bucks a lawn!! That summer I made around 3,000 DOLLARS. 3 grand for 2.5 months isn't bad for a 15 year old kid! Needless to say I bought more Nintendo games than anyone on the block...

It makes me sickMe too. This morning in the WA Puget Sound area it was announced that an illegal, hired by Krispy Cremes, filed a sexual harrassment lawsuit. If that was done to her, it was wrong, but it will go to court. HOWEVER,
she has admitted being an illegal and should be prosecuted & deported asap. She can come back, if neccessary, for a trial. What do you want to bet that she gets a bunch of money, INS does nothing, and she imports the rest of her Mexican relatives? Heck, they might even make her manager...
In a tangentially related story; a young white man stopped his car by a Masonic Temple in Bremerton to talk with his friends who were coming from a party. A gang of black "youths" came up to the car, asked him what HE (a white guy) was doing there, hauled him out of his car, and beat him. Cops happened to drive by, caught the "youths"... Has it appeared in YOUR local paper yet? But when a white teacher dared to speak the "N" word in class illustrating how using certain words caused upset- it was on the front page of papers around the nation. Speaking a "protected" word is a crime worthy of losing your job, actual hate threats and beatings are deemed inconsequential... IF committed by a "protected class."
The relationship between your story and mine are that liberal white people appear to be trying to bring down their own race and country. I suffer from no such guilt and refuse to go along with them. I wish our side would not only speak out more, but take to the streets for some truly powerful taking back of power, rule of law, and civilized society.

Yes, it used to be that inexperienced teens could get their first jobs at fast-food restaurants. My first job at 16 was at a KFC franchise and all the fast-food places in the DC suburban town where I went to high school were staffed with fresh-faced teenagers. It was a good way to learn work ethics and get some experience so you could go on to a better paying part-time job.
Now it seems that the fast-food places are all staffed by immigrants. They get the orders wrong and half the time you can't understand what they're saying.
In the "olden days" we fast-food employees had to be quick, friendly and accurate. We caught heck if we weren't. That doesn't seem to be a requirement anymore either.
