I'll agree that this guy betrayed an undercurrent of admiration, but I'll bet it has more to do with a desire to be dominated than being smitten by Ann or her politics. I'll bet a night in a sweaty Baghdad prison would be equally bewitching to this Guardian hack.

You may have a RAT-induced tendency to avoid the truth. AC is one of the few Pubbies that tells truth like it is consistently and most of us agree with her consistently.

MOre like an "Appealing Magic"!!!
To: ijcr
Whether in the jeans and cowboy boots she's wearing today or one of the tiny skirts that accompanied her first TV appearances, she does not fit easily into Michael Moore's pantheon of Stupid White Men.
I have to agree.

Ad homonym...?
Well, homonym is a (near) homonym of hominem, and hominem is a homonym of homonym, but I don't think this quite, er, ads up.

Coulter has it on good authority that President Bush has read Slander - or at least held it in his hands and looked at it
I understand the author's assertion. After all, how many graduates of multiple Ivy League Universities are actually able to read? < /sarcasm>
Of course, a college washout who came close to winning the last election wouldn't be subjected to this sort of slander.

Which makes the transcripts hilarious reading. One has ABC News's Bob Woodruff jabbering, "Well, if it, if - if, in fact..." before Coulter pounces again.
Don't bring a dull knife to a gunfight.

Why are the Euro Weanies in such love with the United States??? I can't remember when I cared about any of the leftist media in all of Europe. And do they actually produce anything in all of Europe besides chocolate, whores, porn, cheese, and crappy watches?? Oh yeah crapy cars and terrorist cells..

The first 20 or so paragraphs was all whine, so the rest of this article will forever be a mystery to me. :-)

that, incidentally, is just the kind of cheap, liberal shot that Coulter would expect from a limp-wristed, European, communist rag like this one, as we shall soon discover Freedland finally recognizes his organisation. - yea 'bout time!

Hey! they pretty much got it right. That's the Ann Coulter that I love. Do they think that all this about Ann is BAD??kAcknor Sez:
Those were my thought too! I laughed nearly the entire time I was reading it. Mostly at the reminders of Ann's words, but also (and sometimes even more) at the way Freedland portrayed her.
This is probably the most straightforward and fair look at Ann we are ever likely to see from the left. It was written intelligently and with a bit of humor, and he didn't fall into the usual name-calling we hear so much. What is funny is that even as he recognized the problem liberals have dealing with her, as much as he tried, he suffered their same fate. His shock and angst and disbelief that anyone could say such things was hidden behind calm words, but was still evident throughout.
Still, he has her nailed on at least one point. She IS "a shocking, political stand-up comic with a knack for the smart quip". We love that (Dennis Miller may be said to have copied Ann Coulter in this respect, and look at the mileage he is getting) and the left hates it, but what liberals hate most is her TRUTH. Behind the admittedly occasional 'over the top' zinger, she hits them hard between the eyes with the one thing they can't fight.
Freedland quotes her (in his words) "notorious column" of September 13 2001: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." But he fails to note her later quote that "within 3 WEEKS, the first two were official U.S. Government policy".
That's why the left finds Ann Coulter so hard to take, the zinger that gets your attention, then the truth that holds it, thus changing opinion.

"So Ann has a book coming out in June as well. A little competition for MZ. Hillary" Any bets on which will be the better seller?

Coulter's book shared its perch on the bestsellers' lists with another by ex-CBS correspondent Bernard Goldberg called simply Bias. Both set out to prove that the US is dominated by a liberal elite that shuts out mainstream, regular, conservative Americans like them. "conservative Americans like them?" This guy thinks Ann needs to get her facts straight? If he had read Goldberg's book, he would know that Goldberg is not a conservative. Even if he hadn't admitted this in his book, it would have been easy enough to conclude: He never would have lasted on CBS if he had been a conservative. But that's the very reason that his book is so damning.
