What the hell is sexist anbout that? I have known both men and women who can't get over the fact that life ain't supposed to be fair. She deserves no respect and should be denigrated at every opportunity.

"Why in the hell do you take up for a low-life traitor like Dowd?"

And besides, she works for that discredited piece of journalistic fraud called the New York Times.

I am a guy who was, for many years, a distinct minority in my place of business.

I believe that if there was another attack in the U.S. like 9/11, Dowd, Graham, and most of the other democrat pigs would break out the champagne.

Of course anything from the nytimes needs to
be second sourced by a reputable media outlet.

Ms. Dowd and her buddies plainly do not understand. Imagine the tripe they would be spouting 60 years ago...

"The Administration has clearly abandoned the War Against the Japanese. Why else would they be invading the poor people of Midway Island? What have the people that live there done to us? Our military is only attacking all these islands because they are brown-skinned and weak. Why are we not invading Japan?"

"Now, why on earth are we invading the peaceful nations of north Africa? I thought we were at war with Germany. Why are we not invading Germany? What has Tunisia ever done to us?"

Agreed. Saudi Arabia is just about the last place Al Queda can operate now, and one of the main reasons is because parts of the government of the Kingdom are complicit in their operations.

I find it astonishing that in a repressive quasi-police state like Saudi that nineteen terrorists could simply get away. When I lived there there were random police stops on all the major highways and armed service personnel at virtually every major intersection. Did these terrorists simply melt into the desert like Lawrence of Arabia?

Did Bush actually say "They're not a problem anymore"? If he did, it would be out of character, since he has never seemed to believe that terrorism can be completely wiped out, only curtailed and - hopefully - kept out of the USA. I would like to know what words Dowd omitted where those dots are; I would not be surprised if those words completely changed the meaning of the "They're not a problem anymore" comment.

You are correct, my friend. It seems Ms. Dowd is jealous of all the attention the Times is heaping up Jayson Blair, so she is going to try the "make up a quote" thing herself.

Here is a link to the speech and here is the ACTUAL quote:

"Al Qaeda is on the run. That group of terrorists who attacked our country is slowly, but surely being decimated. Right now, about half of all the top al Qaeda operatives are either jailed or dead. In either case, they're not a problem anymore."

This is a complete, total and absolute lie on Dowd's part. We always have a laugh here at how she manages to massage the truth, but this is different. This is FRAUD.

Buried in the rubble of Riyadh are some of the Bush administration's basic assumptions: that Al Qaeda was finished, that invading Iraq would bring regional stability and that a show of American superpower against Saddam would cow terrorists.

Nonsense. The latest attack is not a sign of AQ strength, but of their weakness. They have been unable to launch an attack against America, and are reduced to attacking us in Saudi Arabia. What have they accomplished? Not much. They will probably try to claim that they are responsible for "driving the Americans out" when we complete our withdrawal that was already announced last week. But they have royally POed Saudi government and I suspect things will get very unpleasant for AQ operatives in Saudi. And they don't have too many other places to go.

"Right now, about half of all the top al Qaeda operatives are either jailed or dead. In either case, they're not a problem anymore."

You and I would look at this statement and take it to mean that the top Al Qaeda operatives who are either jailed or dead are not a problem anymore. Dizzy Dowd would look at it and spin it to mean that Bush said Al Qaeda is not a problem anymore. That way, whenever Al Qaeda launches another attack, she can spin it to prove that Bush was wrong about Al Qaeda. She is disgusting.

She won the genetetic lottery. She has chosen to pass these on through the Douglas tree and to enhace a Douglas dynasty.

As much as I despise Dowd, this truly amazes me. She TOTALLY changed a quote of the President's to say something it didn't:

Here is her quote:

Busy chasing off Saddam, the president and vice president had told us that Al Qaeda was spent. "Al Qaeda is on the run," President Bush said last week. "That group of terrorists who attacked our country is slowly but surely being decimated. . . . They're not a problem anymore."

And here is the REAL quote:

"Al Qaeda is on the run. That group of terrorists who attacked our country is slowly, but surely being decimated. Right now, about half of all the top al Qaeda operatives are either jailed or dead. In either case, they're not a problem anymore."

This is beyond partisan and is now "jaysoning" a story.

I suspect that the Saudi madrassas as well as the normal social sociopaths provided AlQueda with recruits.

Do you think I'd get my hands slapped if I started a separate, vanity thread on those quotes?

As you can tell, I'm REALLY pissed about this...

HA HA! Oh, I don't know. I don't think it would be worth a hand slap. I do think it is such a major case of partisan misleading of the public that it deserves its own thread. The President said one thing, and Dowd changed it and spun it to mean something else, so that she could attack the President! A true strawman column from a strawbrained doofus.

Not by choice - but I have a had a very interesting look into the world of emotionally needy, single, professional women.

If you ever have a coworker turn to you and say: "Why can't anyone just love me?" and have to hold back a long mental list of perfectly rational answers to her question, you'll understand.
