I've already planted Petunias around my dogwood trees in front of the house. Had to go out and spray them this afternoon as the creepy crawlies were eating them full of holes. I have had lots of problems with my petunias and geraniums. Seems that around here there is a type of moth that, around the time of the full moon, lays their eggs in those types of plants and then, soon after, the larvae, which I'm told is called a "tobacco bud worm", starts munching away at the blossoms. They have voracious appetites and seem to particularly enjoy petunias and geraniums. Some of the insecticide sprays that I used would wilt the petunias. Finally was directed by a nurseryman to try "Maverick" herbicide. It worked great when I remembered to use it.
Another constant problem here is snails, which will devour a patch of marigolds in nothing flat. LOL.

The sound is not working on my puter, but I wanted to send this song to you. It's the one that Jack and I dance to on each anniversary. One of my favorites and the girl who runs the wav site added it to the list just for me. Now I can't hear it. Let me know if you can.

Sounds like you're talking Cowan Lake or Rocky Ford...those used to be great places for a picnic.
Well, they were 35 years ago...don't know how they are now.

I didn't think anything would eat Marigolds LOL. I really don't have a green thumb. That is why I plant Petunias. They are hardy enough to survive my inattention.

Coming back to say goodnight and thank everyone once again for sharing some of your beautiful gardens and flowers and yards and other photographs of other beautiful places. It was a special day, and wanted to leave a special goodnight thought.

I sure don't have a clue. The Ohio girls probably know the good places. If they wanted to come down my way there is Bob Evans Farm, but I don't think they will want to drive that far. The last time we met just east of Columbus because it was about the center point for all of them. Of course I have to drive further, but I don't mind driving.

It has been so long ago...I was in junior high at the time we started going there...
Cowan is just a bit south and east of Chillicothe, and Rocky Ford State Park is further east of there.
Jack's getting a defibrillator, eh? Is that like a super-charged pacemaker?

Oh good. You know, every so often my puter loses the sound and I know there is something simple that fixes it, but can't remember. LOL. Will have to call son to come and rescue me.

Wasn't it a year ago we were discussing the fact in Arizona there are misters to overcome the dry air?
Foreign concept to us in the South..:))
I do still run the sprinkler on hot days by the bird bath, though, and they come by the dozens to play in it!

Sounds like Cowan is closer to me. I'm two hours South and East of Columbus. Go through Chillicothe when I go to Columbus. I'm sure that Jack knows those places since he grew up in Ohio.
The Defib. is an electric charger. If his heart stops the thing jolts his heart back to life. The Dr. said he is "high" risk without it. I just pray he will be okay until he has it installed.

Was it really a year ago? I remember, 4TheFlag was still a member then...
Yup, we have misters to overcome the hot dry air, or you can live at 5000' and not have to put up with 100+ degree summer days!

Tell ya' what, we'll add him to our prayers, too. Heart problems are no fun, but FRiends can help somewhat!

Thanks, Jinxie.
Nan and Jack are very special persons, and many of us have them on our daily prayer lists.
The Special Need in your area is covered now, too...

Misters to overcome the dry air? *LOL* I would like to have a good mister around, too, but I would have a lot more uses for him than that. hee hee hee
