For senators like Finestein, Schumer, Lautenburg, etc., to ignore the statistics (and the Constitution), implies that their true agenda is not safety for the children, but something much more sinister (and dangerous).

I would call it the triumph of bullshit, myself. Nihilism, though false and stupid, was at least internally self-consistent. PC ain't.

Bravo! I had that same line copied and ready to paste in an identical response when I spotted yours.
You are of course, 100% correct: our Constitution does not grant rights -- it guarantees them.

BTW, how do those who claim to support the Constituion , yet call for "reasonable restrictions on gun ownership" claim to get around the 2nd amendment phrase,
...shall not be infringed."?

At our high school the ROTC had real rifles for practice, although they had to go to A&M and use the Corp's range. They often brought them to school and carpooled to campus.
And almost every truck had a gun rack across the back, complete with gun. It was nothing to see friends talking about a new purchase downtown on Sat. morning.

Having gone through the system...after numerous attempts at being brainwashed to think guns are the root of all evil...I'm still here, I still don't own a gun, but I will still fight tooth and nail for the rights -- the GUARANTEED rights -- of others to bear arms. A good friend of mine, recent convert from the Libertarian party (still small-l, now just understands reality :p), is sooo tired of fighting this issue. If he needs a nap, I'll take it up for him. ;-)
Makes me want to go out and buy a gun JUST to piss off the liberals.
Excellent article. Indeed, a keeper.

It all comes down to one thing: The day Americans are denied by law the ability to defend themselves is the day Americans start shooting the lawmakers. Period.
As far as the article, nicely done. Even my dad, who is 63, tells of his days in Mt. Sterling, Kentuky, living on a small farm shooting rabbits for dinner. He sometimes brought the 22 single shot riffle to school with him to shoot on the way home.

2,000 restrictive state and federal gun laws Isn't that 20,000 restrictive state and federal gun laws? Oh well, whats a factor of 10 amongst friends? :)

Plenty of good gun people up in SF. The Cow Palace show is always the biggest in the bay area.
Lots of freaks & weirdos though, and far too much military style junk.

I even wrote a vanity essay on that theme, click my name and go to my bookmarks to find it if you're interested. I thought it was pretty good.

When I was in jr high and high school late 60's early 70'...I was looking through one of my old high school yearbooks from the early sixties recently. It has pictures of people with guns at the school all through it. Boys with guns, Girls with guns, teachers with guns, a State patolman with a drawn revolver in front of a class teaching a gun saftey course. Many of us carried rifles and shotguns to school to go hunting with on the way home. We were supposed to leave them in our lockers, but no one paid much mind if we carried a new rifle or shotgun to a class to show it off. Our school had both a boys and girls rifle team and owned target rifles for both teams. We engaged in inter-school rifle matches. If I remember correctly, we were supposed to be in the 9th grade before bringing our own guns to school, but I remember once that I took my fathers muzzle loading rifle to elementary school with me for some type of activity (a play or show and tell or something like that). Times have changed, I guess. That was back in a time when everyone owned a gun (usually more than one) and no one shot anyone else. I miss the old ways.

Will try to be there around then.
Marine top cover, ten dollar bill in lapel,
cane.
Buy most of my stuff with a C&R off the net but
sometimes you pick up a keeper at a show.
Got a nice FR-8 last time. $120.
Hoping the guy with the WWI war art is there this time,
missed several NICE shell/vases at great prices last time.
