The concept of "diversity" is popular in the media and academia. Boyd had accepted the "Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity" award at Wayne State University, where Thomas, a graduate of the institution who developed a reputation as a partisan liberal journalist, used the occasion to attack President Bush´s opposition to racial preferences in college admissions. Thomas said, "I think affirmative action is needed in this country." How fitting.

So, what else is new at the New York Times? This is an outfit that has manufactured facts for years, going back to Walter Duranty and possibly beyond. All the news that is fit to print, should be changed to the news as we decree it. Howell Raines should be asked to turn in his resignation, and if he doesn't he should be fired. This bastard has tried to hang his career on pillorying the Augusta National Golf Club over its membership policies.

McGowan's book should be mandatory reading in J-School.
It isn't, and may never be, but it should.

Ah, the stench of Howell Raines pervades another otherwise-nice morning.
I need to dig out that article that shows the Times is the only top US newspaper to lose circulation recently, with their sales going down a whopping 5% during a period when everyone else's circulation remained pretty much even.

Ah, the foul odor of diversity.

There was a vehement and incoherent defense of Blair posted by one of his NYT buddies on
this thread (posts #50 & 51). Wish you could've seen it before the Viking Kitties got to it.

This is just another example of postmodern affectation: facts and truth are subservient to political goals. Reality is unimportant as long as political philosophies are activated.
Contradictions of diversity agenda dictate indifference to performance, ultimately. In the arena of ethical considerations, the left refuses to recognize that criticism does not necessarily equal bigotry. So, even in one who has substantial evidence of adherence to the diversity agenda (and so who might not be easily subjected to reflex persecution by the politically correct left), there is a strong aversion to criticism of nonCaucasians.
The untruths pressurize until the contradictions become self evident: the pop-goes-the-weasel effect.

Affirmative action and racial preferences are a front to promote communists and communism in the US, end of story.
Indeed, as if the only thing we owed in the world was to people... corrupt people at that. "Yeah yeah, man, cool, power to the people!" but all I can think is "F You see k you!"

Blair certainly did this, even getting a job as a national reporter at the paper without having graduated from the University of Maryland journalism school.Kinda makes you reexamine the U. Michigan quota debacle, doesn't it? Why even bother going to college if you can land the plum jobs at the Times or the Globe. I always knew Derrick Z. Jackson of the Globe wasn't that great, now I really have my suspicions. I wanna see his resume!!

Didn't the WP have a big scandal a few years ago with a female black reporter who invented a whole bunch of people fro a series on the homeless. I think it won some prizes, then the truth came out. She was fired. It'd be interesting to see what's become of her since then..

The TIMES
practices diversity.
They adhere to Equal Opportunity corruption, regardless of race, color, creed, national origin or sexual orientation.

Affirmative Action is the cotton candy dream of the Left, all fluff little substance and even that little bit will rot your teeth. The NYTs and other vaunted liberal institutions are headed down the same path into the pit reserved for failures, and they will lie right next to what is left of the public school system.

Oh, please! Do you think you could find it without too much trouble? I knew this had to be happening and have done some searches trying to track the NYT's circulation rate recently, but haven't been able to find anything :-(
I did find out that the New York Post is the fastest growing daily, though, and is enjoying skyrocketing subscription rates LOL
