I proudly placed one of these babies on my van last night. Today, I will drive all over Palm Beach County, a "blue zone". Yeh, in your face, Demonrats!
I would love to be there and see that. I'll think I get one to show off here in NW FLA

So the Republican talking point would be: mention Byrd's past KKK association whenever you get a chance but NEVER EVER bring up Bush's past (or lack of) in the National Guard?
To: Egregious Philbin
right

One sour note: as a sometime military aviator I can't fault the President for taking the opportunity to strap on an airplane one more time; but he should have worn the USAF wings he earned rather than Navy wings he didn't.

Me either. The glee, I mean. A guy here wrote a scathing
letter to editor just foaming at the mouth about it.
Jealousy is such an ugly green eyed monster.

His dad was dressed in a flightsuit back when he was VP and came to Nellis for a flight. There was a crowd of us out there to listen to him speak - it was awesome.

I think this is grest. I emailed the RNC and asked them to make sure the use a LOT of the footage for President Bush's re-election campaign.
The socialist dems are having a hissy fit now. Can you imagine what it will be like during the campaign?
That will take away time puching their socialist agenda.

I think i've been on FR for about two years now - a long time to troll. I'm not talking about Bush vs. Clinton. I will not be defending Clinton now, or ever. I might point out hypocrisy as it relates to Bush vs. Clinton, but I won't even do that here. I'll take you on if you'd like to show me how we can willfully disregard Bush's less than honorable past if "character counts." The Democrats totally missed their talking point - Bush dons a flight suit, something he didn't do when it was required of him in 1972.

I hope to get as much a rise out of the dems here in PBC as I did when I used to have two 8" x11" Magnetic Bumper Stickers with a Wanted Posted of Janet Reno for her crimes against children on both the passenger & driver doors!
Stopping at traffic lights was a blast!

In historical perspective, when George W. put on a flight suit to fly out to the Lincoln, he was not creating a precedent; he was continuing one.The very point I made in posts during and immediately after the event aboard the Lincoln. It was NOT just a photo op, but an event rich in important symbolism. There is a straight line from George Washington at Valley Forge to our Dubya on landing on that carrier. Another FReeper responded that George W. Bush is no George Washington. True, but that's not the point. The point is as the author of the referenced article states: In smashing style, Dubya was continuing a 226-year-old precedent.
The image on the carrier conveys all that is strong and hopeful and confident in the man. And it's driving liberals nuts.
The images from our Dubya's carrier landing and visit not only convey all that is strong and hopeful and confident about the man, but about our nation as well. And THAT, more than anything else, is what drives the Left nuts. They hate American power, strength, hopefulness, and confidence. They want us weak and strangled in an international super-government web. The entire presidency of George Walker Bush virtually shouts: NOT ON MY WATCH to the Left's fondest wet dreams. It's why they hate him so.

Just back from being gone all afternoon. I see my letter to the National Review columnist was spot on and this guy agrees as well.
The flight suit has sent them over the edge!
I am going to order stickers too. Seeking the Truth, we need BIG posters!! LOL!

Some of the democrats are having fits, especially from Senator Byrd. Bush is wasting taxpayers money by playing TOP GUN. The Navy people didn't seem to mind and it was great for their morale. I guess it was okay for Clinton to hold up a airport runway while he got his hair cut on the AF1. Senator Kennedy had JFK JR buried at sea with the help of the USN. When your government you have perks?

It would have beeen more impressive,if he would actually have been at the controls. But a president in the drink wouldn't get the same reaction, would it?Pure politics.

Well, Codie, he was at the controls for about 1/3 the way in, but of course didn't attempt a landing since he was not trained for carrier landings, which require special techniques. He is not irresponsible.
And no, it wasn't pure politics, since not one political candidate was mentioned and he is not yet on any ballot. What it signified was a spcial greeting to the military for a job well done, and a chance for the American people to revel in a moment of victory. I have rarely seen such joy in the faces of all participants, from the Commander in Chief to the lowest-ranking sailor.
But then you go ahead and consider it politics if you wish. Nothing will take away that shining day.

Do you think President Bush would have undertaken this war if there was any chance,he might have lost?

Yes. President Bush does what is right, not what is popular.
At some point, you have to try to win, even if all hope is lost. Thankfully, in this case we had the advantage. Had ten years been allowed to pass again, we might not have had any recourse but to die with honor.
