He definitely waived time on his bail hearing, that would have had to have happened within 48 hours of the arraignment. I remember the "waive time" phrase being used by a reporter. I am not sure if one can selectively waive time for a bail hearing but not for the trial. I am assuming they will waive time to make time to file motions and allow time for a change of venue, access to the bodies, financial arrangments with the Public Defender's office, discovery investigation, etc. We'll know more today, I guess.

Ain't that the truth. Not to mention ANOTHER one of Mark's clients, whom I'd forgotten about: ROGER CLINTON.
To: RGSpincich
VERY astute! Yeah, why would he be waiving speedy trial--if in fact he is?
"Why sit in jail for two years waiting for your defense witnesses to die?" You said it, RG!!

Thanks for the info. Well, now we KNOW that as much of this upcoming hearing as possible will be televised...
Jackie and Lee must've been big Clinton-democrat donors some time or other. Just a guess.

Watching the Abraham Linclon comming into port sure is bringing back lots of emotion for me. I was a Navy brat and went to many of these homecommings when my dad came home. Mom never let us go when he left but we were always there for his homecomming.
Seeing all the signs people are waving reminds me of my signs that I made and the anticipation of dad fianlly getting home.
God bless all these families and sailors.

Peterson Gets New Attorney; Won't Be At Memorial Service
Attorney Geragos
MODESTO, Calif. -- Under heavy security, Scott Peterson made a short court appearance Friday morning to announce that famed attorney Mark Geragos was taking over his defense to charges he killed his wife, Laci, and unborn son, Connor, on Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile, Stanislaus County authorities said they had told Peterson he could not attend a public memorial for the slain Modesto schoolteacher and her unborn son scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday. They claimed the security threat to Peterson was just too great.
Some 3,000 mourners were expected for the service that was to be held on Laci Peterson's 28th birthday.
"There will be songs that were some of Laci's favorites and ones that had a lot of meaning to the family," said Rocha family spokeswoman Kim Petersen, who is no relation.
Snip it.

There seems to be little doubt that whoever defends Scott Peterson against the charges that he killed his wife and unborn son will ask that the trial be moved out of Stanislaus County.
And for good reason.
Peterson was greeted by a small mob as he was driven into the Stanislaus County jail after being arrested in San Diego late in April. The crowd jeered him, shouted catcalls and carried signs proclaiming his guilt in the Christmas Eve murders. There had been no trial, no disclosure of the evidence against him.
Simply media reports and rumors.
"In fairness, I wish the district attorney luck in keeping his case there, but the kind of passion running in that town, it almost looks like a lynch mob there is so much anger," said veteran San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Jim Hammer. "I think they are going to get the motion granted."

well my take on these witnesses goes like this, if there are people out there who can put scott somewhere else or can prove his innocence then why hasnt scotts lawyer produced them instead of letting scott sit in jail? it seems wrong of scott's lawyer to let him stay in jail if he has facts to prove scott's innocent does it not?
