The rally in Lemoore today was not what any of us expected but we enjoyed great tri-tip sandwiches while we visited and enjoyed the company.

The event sold raffle tickets and candy bars to raise money for the Navy Relief Fund.

There were only about 100 people there and the military in attendance were in civilian clothes. To thank them, we had to ask them if they were Navy and when they said yes, we thanked them and asked for pictures.

Freepers in attendance were:

Jim, Sheila and Chris Robinson
Mama_Bear

DiverDave and Linda
Stuart Weil
JustAmy and Leonard

Three of Lemoore's Finest.

Mama_Bear gave away two of her signs to active duty sailors when they inquired about them. One said he wanted the sign, the other asked for a picture of a sign.

Two sailors who were on shore duty while the USS Lincoln was deployed.

Stuart with a sailor who served off of Afganistan.

These two young men came home Friday after being at sea for 10 months.

Bumpity bump! Had a lot of fun and enjoyed talking with the Lemoore sailors and families and the FReepers!! Great Tri-Tip!! Almost as good as jkphoto's!! Can't wait for the September Fresno TailGate!!

I decided to put jk's photos into a montage. The quality isn't all that good because I tried to keep the file size small.

I agree with Amy and Jim, it was a nice afternoon - great company and good food. According to what we were told by one of the organizers, the raffle raised almost $4,000 for Navy Relief. All in all, an afternoon well spent. We really appreciate Diver Dave and Linda driving all the way down from Modesto. Always nice to see our neighbors to the north. :-)

Glad you all had a great time today. I thought of you as I was drive up to get the troop, noticing that the weather was perfect for the event.

Oops, I was mistaken, jk says that $2,000 was raised for Navy Relief. ($4,000 did seem like an awful lot, for a raffle.)
