Howard Fineman has hair? LOL. I think he has a 'modified' comb over (that's for journalists) vs. a 'full' comb over (for politicians).

Let's see, a President using the military for a photo-op, sucked when Clinton did it, sucks even more that Bush is doing it.

This ain't a photo-op. Look at the sailors and pilots on that ship - he's there for them and nobody else. Any political gain or loss is secondary to the tremendous morale boost that his presence gives the entire military.

That was the screech of the medusa.

. . . . coulda sworn that was a Harpy I heard . . .

. . . that screech is unmistakable. Just not sure whether it was Aëllo, Ocypete or Caeleno.

The NCO's and other Enlisted get stuck with all sorts of off-duty time details to prep for this crap, probably some damn rehearsals too, so some shitbird 0-6 can pad his OPR and so the President can out-do Dukakis.

Sure beats latrine duty.

Like GWB, we're taking the 4-seater. Ollie wanted to come along for the mission as well. I'd say, overall, we've got a pretty good team here ;)

Oh yeah!

There's a Goya etching from the Disparates that resembles her even more closely . . . but I couldn't bring myself to post it. The harpies are hovering over a group of witches killing an infant child. Too much for me, Goya often is.

But of course if you stop to think about it . . . that's what she supports. Harpy, indeed.

"Let's see, a President using the military for a photo-op, sucked when Clinton did it, sucks even more that Bush is doing it. These guys are winding up a long deployment, and get stuck at sea another day because of a donkey show. Bush coulda done that speech in San-Diego, and paid his respects to the troops as they were departing the vessel. But no, I can just visualize it. The NCO's and other Enlisted get stuck with all sorts of off-duty time details to prep for this crap, probably some damn rehearsals too, so some shitbird 0-6 can pad his OPR and so the President can out-do Dukakis. If the admin gave a rats-ass for the troops, they would push a bill through Congress severely restricting DV visits and assorted donkey shows that occur on a disgustingly regular basis at military installations worldwide. Why the term donkey show instead of the more commonly used dog-and-pony show? BECAUSE THE RANK AND FILE TROOPS ARE BEING F*CKED BY JACKASSES FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S ENTERTAINMENT!!! The troops are busy enough defending the country, they don't need to be treated like a bunch of tools."

As someone who has been there, done that, I would respect W for doing this more than anything else. I resigned my commission because of Clinton. You sir, are obviously a DU sleeper cell designed to pee on the parade, on this day of glory for our troops; past, present and future.

I served in the Marine Corps with Ronald Reagan as commander-in-chief. If I learned that President Reagan was coming to visit my unit, I would have gladly gone through whatever "inconveniences" that were necessary to prepare for his arrival. It would have been an honor to have him.

This was no dog-and-pony show today. For most of the 5,500 members of the U.S.S. Lincoln, today was the highlight of their military careers. For the rest of their lives, they will be talking about the day that President Bush flew onto their carrier and spent the night with them.

This picture of the CINC surrounded by those aviators reminds me of that picture of Ike on 5/6/44 giving his last orders to the Screaming Eagles before they jumped into Normandy.
