Thanks for the years of service to our state, nation, and humanity in general.
Nobody but you ever put Jim Hunt in his place.

Luv to you and the Mrs from WNC!

The people of NC are still wondering why the national media are taking Edwards seriously. Last I noticed, he was down 20+ points to Dubya in a 2-man race in NC. There ought to be a law that a presidential candidate is not taken seriously until he can beat the other party's candidate in his home state.

Oh, never mind. That would have meant that no one would ever have taken algore seriously back in 2000.

I wish I had a nickel for every time he was the ONLY Senator opposing one bill or another.

There was NEVER any wondering where he stood on an issue or wondering if he could be persuaded to 'go along with the crowd'.

What a wonderful Senator. I dearly miss him.

Thanks for posting. Jesse was the one Senator I could always count on voting the same way I would have voted on just about every single issue. There will never be another Jesse Helms in the Senate, and, as a nation, we will be all the poorer for it.

Great Post, Jesse has wisdom, and he can still make a difference, when speaking out!

You are quite welcome!

Jesse is one solid conservative, and a true man of character.

Wish we could find another one just like him.

I wish that too, but I think that Jesse was one of a kind.

I doubt that you & I will ever see another Senator with the guts, sheer resolve and character he displayed.
I do hope that I am wrong in that assumption, though.

Regards,
CD
