I watched a show about russian brides on A&E I think. The two guys they followed were over 40 and the one was divorced 3 times. The divorced one really liked this 31 year old but she didn't speak much english and didn't like him at all. I think she was expecting wealthy handsome American actor. She kept saying "too soon" "too soon" LOL over and over or something similar when he was asking her when she would come to America. He gave her 500 dollars and when he got back to america she only emailed him once and then he never heard back from her again. Then he found another girl who spoke much better english and he had the same pushy routine with this new girl who was 33 and had a daughter. She wasn't as good looking but he was happy because this lady was one of the few that was interested and they got married and all was going well. The other dude met a 30 something and he was really disgusted with russia. I thought he was rude and was really controlling and had a nasty attitude. This girl had a son and she was saying how she needed to get out of Russia because her son will need to go into the military and many get killed. He got her to come to America and then he proposed because they only had 30 days before she had to go back. He was a nag and nagged at the way she cooked, her driving skills, her son and other things. The woman seemed like she was getting fed up with his mouth and was looking for a job. She had some sass to her so I don't think she will be putting up with his B.S. for too long. I was really shocked at how much money these guys were willingly to dish out for possible marriage and how quickly they wanted to marry these ladies because they didn't speak much english. I thought the whole thing was pretty crazy.

Once a woman becomes an American woman she reevaluates her market value and value among American men and other opportunities.

Because of academic feminism's influence on young girls, lots of American women have grown up to be mediocre and litigious whiners. This makes dating a lot like aversion therapy if the girl you just shagged takes terms like “heterosexism” seriously. If women with feminist sensibilities identified themselves somehow, like enemy combatants in war, American women would be a lot more fun to meet.

While all moral men are against sex trafficking, which often manifests itself through mail-order bride services, I support any decent guy who finds himself embracing a Russian beauty. In general, Russian women are more pragmatic, have a more realistic concept of American culture, and a better grasp of U.S. history than American women do. Also, Russian women are HOT!

I have a friend who went this path and is still married.

There are horror stories to be sure, but I think it does point out an consistent phenomenon. Men in america do not see the stereotypical american feminist attitude as consusive to a what should be in a wife.

Russian women are absolutely gorgeous.

Summer in Moscow is great as they wear little and seem flattered by attention. They don't think men are being disrespectful.

The goal of marring a Westerner is less than before, due to the fact that Russian is improving, economically.

Russian is a fascinating place. If you can read some Cyrillic (and you can easy after a little time here) it is even more so. But if you can speak it, its great! (I can't, at least not without a titter of laughter when I do)

My friend's cousin had the experience in reverse, sort of. He signed up for a tour, went to Russia, met his bride and brought her and her child here, with the promise of a prompt wedding and a green card, she wanted to work. The only promise he kept was the quick wedding. Little did she know that she was wife #3, he hadn't worked regularly in more than a decade, often not working at all, he had beat his other wives and was arrested and prosecuted. But she quickly found out. He refused to get her green card, they lived on the income she made cleaning houses for his family, she knew it was wrong and he kept promising that if she just earned a little more, he could afford to buy it for her. He forced her to sleep in the basement and walk to her jobs (very rural area) for months. My friend and I saw eye to eye on getting her help and finding her a spot in a women's shelter with expertise in her situation. She and her child are now in a half way house, she has a green card, is working legally, is getting a divorce, the women's shelter worked hard on her behalf. And he is avoiding prosecution for human trafficking somehow. My friend and I had very tense conversations about that aspect, because as despicable as this 'man' was, my friend didn't want to get the law involved and send him to jail for the crime he committed. But that wasn't up to me, it was up to the shelter and their legal aid. It seems a few of these 'wife hunters' are looking for glorified slaves.

My friend married a Russian gal a few years ago. He and she had to jump thru lots of hoops and red tape but she finally made it here. They seem to be pretty happy together.....

As a side note, while they were corresponding via the internet, she was attempting to learn English. Then after her arrival she continued taking English classes as well as enrolling in college......She has almost finished her degree and is majoring in math. She also was a classical trained pianist too.......

Until she arrived here she had never before driven a car because nobody in her family could ever afford to buy one.........

Lastly, she is a hardcore conservative and really gets animated when talking about liberals and their policies......
