Maher has turned around alot since the onset of the war in Iraq. Denouncing those that continued to speak out against the President and the war 'after' its onset.

No Boys and Girls.. Bill has not been cancelled, Maher has just taken his act to Broadway opening May 5 @ the Virginia Theatre.

When people get the idea that the ONLY rights we have are listed in the Constitution and bill of rights we are in deep trouble. We have many rights not listed.
The Constitution was written to limit the power of a central government, NOT to limit the rights of the people!!

Maher: "Yes I think so. I mean, I think, Iraqis, I think, feel that if we drove smaller cars, maybe we wouldn't have to kill them for their oil."

That is the most outrageous statement yet from any 'celebrity' concerning the war in general. If Ann Coulter weren't on his show I wonder how small his audience would be......

Thinks he's Mort Sahl.....only a lot dumber!

Curious to see what kind of box office his show gets in New York.

I also give Maher SOME credit for publicly admitting when he's wrong. It's something so few leftists do. However, the part about America being "dead last" is another major whopper. I saw a study a few years back (even before the outpouring after 9/11) about the difference in the levels of charitable giving of US citizens and Canadians, who were the next closest to us in per capita giving. Suffice it to say that Americans out-gave every other country in the world AND in almost all instances, gave more than the rest of the countries combined. I just wish I could remember where I saw the article. . .

If someone on the left doesn't know what they h@ll they are talking about the media calls it naivete. If a conservative doesn't know what they are talking about they call them stupid. But there is no media bias

"A right to 'privacy' was first broached by the Supreme Court in its 1965 Griswold v Connecticut decision overturning a state ban on birth control and solidified in the majority's Roe v Wade discovery of a privacy right in the 'penumbra' of the Constitution in order to find rationale for overturning state bans on abortion. But it isn't in the Constitution."

If people argue that the Constitution is too vague (hence the lame-brained idea of searching for "penumbras" and "emanations"), they should simply take the time to read "The Federalist Papers" for the best commentary bar none, written no less by men who had a role in developing the charter. Think of it as a catechism of constitutional doctrine.

It disturbs me that interpretation of our founding document relies on hocus-pocus, agenda-driven opinions rather than sound legal scholarship.

It's not just journalists who don't have a clue what the constitution actually says. There's that whole 'separation of church and state' myth.

Observation, the consitution is not written to grant any rights. It is written to limit the power of the federal government. In that respect the rights are not written in a positive sense i.e. "We shall have the right to X, rather they are written in a negative i.e. the government SHALL NOT, etc.

In short the so called Bill of Rights is incorrectly named. It should be called the Bill of Not's.

Slightly off topic, but Maher was on Imus this morning and claimed that his "Dixie Chick" moment that lead to the demise of Politically Incorrect was only that he repeated Dinesh D'souza's claim that the 9/11 terrorists were not cowards. He seems to have forgotten that he implied (stated) that Americans who bomb from 20,000 feet in the air were more cowardly.

Funny how that got glossed over. What a weasel. Now has a "Victory starts at home tour" which I will be sure to miss. He actually thinks he is funny, which is the most tragic thing of all. If he had any friends, I imagine one of them would tell him after a few beers. No such luck.
