Is it possible that SARS has been present in Western populations for a long time but has been no more than a nuisance?

Antibodies to the SARS coronavirus have not been found in the general population.

One of the early victims was Dr. Carlo Urbani, a WHO infectious disease expert who was infected by a patient in Hanoi, was transported to Hong Kong for treatment, and died there. He was Italian.

Time also broke the story on the cover-up in Beijing, and has the leading article about the on-going cover-up in Shanghai. This is one story they are on top of.
