It makes perfect sense. ... To create a new Islamic Shiite State alongside Iran. That President Bush; What a visionary!

Welcome to Free Republic. FYI, unlike your usual jaunts around DU and Bartcop, expect moronic, counter-factual rhetoric to be challenged with facts and reason.

cheers

Two outs, man on first and second, ground ball to you. Where you going to throw it?

I'll gun one if I must. Otherwise, you know the drill:  up the middle, I'm taking it myself with a tag on 2B; to my left, but not the middle, a toss to 2B; to my right, 3B just like 2B. Of course if s/he's running towards me there's a good chance I can get myself a P.O. with a tag as well.  Oooh, I can't wait for the season to start!  Why did you hang up your cleats?
FReegards.

I suppose it's totally my fault in the way I phrased it to have allowed my statements to be so misinterpreted by including such irreverent tongue-in-cheek ambiguity.

Ambiguity? I see no ambiguity as much as an unambiguous cheap-shot.

By the way, "jingo" implies bellicose, extremist, belligerent and even chauvinistic nationalism. Your chosen moniker doesn't particularly help your cause.

However, given the circumstances, you should understand our skepticism.

You nailed it. I was thinking of the tag first as it so demoralizes the runner (think republican guard), then the toss to 2nd (think Brits), and lastly a throw to the plate 'cause the guy might be French and might just want to get into the action.(not really)

Smooth transition back into typical FR discussion mode!

My guess is that American Jingo is a play on words with "American Gigolo." I can only recall watching "Duece Bigalo, Male Gigolo."

It makes perfect sense. This is exactly why we undertook this herculean task taking on the entire world and sacrificing our finest young men in the process; To create a new Islamic Shiite State alongside Iran. That President Bush; What a visionary!

Ahem! If I may, I would like to rephrase my comments in the manner I should have done in the very first place.

So these Shiites really believe that we undertook this herculean task of taking on the entire world and sacrificing our finest young men so that now that Iraq is finally freed and the peace is secured it was all done to create a new Islamic Shiite State alongside Iran? I DON'T THINK SO! Thank you very much.

DANIEL PIPES, DIRECTOR, MIDDLE EAST FORUM: Well, first, yes. The Iranian regime, which is faltering ideologically, is losing support domestically. I call it the Brezhnevite era in Iran. It's a strong state, but a hollow state because fewer and fewer people believed in the ideology.

Suddenly, they have this opportunity next door. There's a substantial population of similar-minded—or similarly—similar people of similar religion who are very interested in what they have to offer, and it has, as you just accurately described, real potential in Iraq of the sort that it doesn't in Iran.

Jimmy Carter, Nobel Peace Prize winner (for insulting our president), betrayed our ally the Shah and enabled the current Iranofascist regime to assume power--and kidnap our citizens.

Clinton allowed Iran to receive Russian assistance in developing nuclear-capable missiles, and to build the Bushehr reactor--now Iran is on the eve of producing weapons-grade material.

A general strike is scheduled in Iran July 9. Khatami will be doing the Ceaucescu before year's end.

The Irani provocateurs will be needed to defend their own regime at home.

They will not be allowed to assume power in Basra as they do not meet the administration criteria as clearly articulated by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

NO WAY! SCREW the Islamo-fascists. I did NOT have my brothers go in there and risk ther lives to promote a new cultish regime!

Over my dead body will it be so!

The Iraquis deserve FREEDOM simply because they are alive, and for NO other reason.

The Shiite mullahs are having enough trouble trying to keep total power over mostly Shiite Iran ---- I can't really imagine why they'd try to now gain control over a country that is more secular and has many Sunnis ---- they could find themselves losing total control back home and never gaining control in Iraq ---- of course the mullahs are after the oil money --but that might not keep them in power.
