I had never even heard of Janeane Garofalo until she was on O'Reilly with her anti-war nonsense. She is right, she was given tons of free publicity.

I don't know where Moore gets his info, but according to Amazon.com today, Chicago is #5 in DVD sales, whereas I didn't even see Moore's movie in the top 25. And in VHS sales, his movie isn't even in the top 50. If his movie is in the VHS list somewhere, its trailing every Pilates video made in the past 12 months, and two Christopher Guest films.

Incidentally, "Jesus of Nazareth" and "Ten Commandments" are both outselling his movie on Amazon.com

"Before this I was a moderately well-known character actress. Now I’m almost famous.”

So is Monica Lewinsky

If you are upset about this stuff selling so well, you should direct your anger towards the real culprits - American public

FYI his books are even bigger sellers in FRANCE.

And don't forget Anna Nicole Smith. Famous is one thing. Respected...that's a different story.

Anybody surprised by this needs a healthy dose of reality. The first rule of the game for "celebrities" is to keep their name/image in public view. The righteous outrage of many of us, myself included, has simply helped these vampires further their own ambitions.
But we can still continue to boycott movies, TV, books, mags, etc. that extoll the "talents" of these people. Done without alot of hooplah, it will reduce the amount of money going to them and their sycophants, without incresing their visibility. It may not yield the results we'd like to see, but it may be the best thing we can do to them.

Rather sad, ins't it? I would like nothing better than for their careers to tank because of their anti-American views, but....

"Artists" Mike Farrell, Martin Sheen, James Cromwell lead Hollywood appeasement rally Feb. 15.

Hollywood Appeasement Activists Cash In

Don't believe Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and the other Tinseltown leftists who claim they're paying a price for opposing Operation Iraqi Freedom. They're getting rich from their anti-U.S. activism, according to the liberal Washington Post. And get a load of Janeane Garofalo's wackiest comment ever ... on burning the American flag.

AOL-Time-Warner-Turner and ABC-Disney courting Janeane Garofalo.

Why does this not surprise me?

"If you’re a producer or a studio, I can’t imagine in our time some studio executive saying, ‘Let’s not use Martin Sheen,’ or ‘Let’s not use Tim Robbins,’" UCLA film prof Howard Suber said. "That would be in Variety the next day.

That might but a blacklist of conservatives in Hollywood wouldn't get press there:

Jerry Doyle (Garabaldi from Babylon 5) talking on Michael Savage about being BLACKBALLED

Meanwhile the UCLA film department is hardly an unbiased source to be offering this view:

Tim Robbins Honored by UCLA

UCLA theatre professor Gary Gardner says, "Tim reflects who we are and what we try to teach in an undergraduate theater education at UCLA."

News of Robbins' honor comes days after it was announced Sarandon will be honored by the Film Society at the Lincoln Center in New York, on May 5.

The left take care of their own.

The Post notes that "dissent, it seems, can be a pretty good career move." And "All told, widespread publicity about celebrities’ war views has helped, not hurt, the careers of the famous."

Hanoi Jane Fonda didn't suffer enough for posing on an enemy anti-aircraft cannon but then again Charles Lindbergh's legacy has been forever tainted (and this is for his position prior to the US entering WWII, not criticisms after we teamed up with the Allies against the Axis).
