Yesterday, the Indian Medical Association complained that health authorities were utterly unprepared for a SARS attack.

All state health ministers and secretaries will meet on Thursday to lay out a plan of action Great, a committee. That ought to be productive.

Sounds as if the Indian Health Ministry is taking the matter pretty seriously.

I have read a couple of articles that indicate to me-India is reaking out at the prospect of what this disease could do. Truthfully, in about 30 days I think the United States will be the only country allowing free mobility.
And no, I don't think that is a good thing.

Yes, indeed. This from an Indian newswire gives an idea of how unprepared they are:
HOSPICIO FALLS SHORT OF?: South Goa's premier hospital, Hospicio, again saw basic medical items being in short supply since the last few days. Medical items such as intra-venous fluids, disposable syringes, disinfectant spirit and other laboratory items have again become scarce. Hospicio doctors on Monday admitted that they are forced to ask the patients or their relatives to get these medical items from outside due to the shortage in the pharmacy. (H)

Wars have been started for lessor offences. The Red Chinese sat on this for weeks, perhaps months. Now its out of control and can be traced directly back to one apartment building that could've been quarantined.

The whole world needs to be on Red Alert concerning SARS.

HK looks like they may get a handle on this, that is until the next guy from country _________ (fill in the blank) sneezes in an elevator lobby.

The committee members may well end up infecting one another....

There are beginning to be hints of SARS in the areas north and south of Mumbai (Bombay). They've been attributed to incomers, but the source of those incomers have been Indonesia and the US, neither of which supposedly have SARS being spread locally. Nor have times lined up well with incubation periods.

Suspect cases were quarantined and allowed to go only after urine, blood, sputum and nasal discharge samples had tested negative. Are specific tests available yet?

HK might have been better served if they had waited another week before re-opening the schools.
