I just
luuuuuuuuvvvv all these EU columnists who meet about a dozen or so Americans who parrot their beliefs, which leads them to jump to increasingly bizarre ideas about how 300 milllion people think and feeeelll.
I do not make the mistake of believing that all Americans think like Freepers or like red zoners, but his belief that the USA is full of people just begging to hand over national sovereignty to the UN is preposterous.Oh, yeah..that'll really be a great campaign point for Wesley Clark.
And that "international good will" bit makes me sick : There was no international good will to squander! The Europeans were openly gloating how the US would "have to" ratify the ICC and Kyoto, and pretty much accede to any EU-UN demand, in exchange for cooperation in the WOT. I made a point of reading editorials and articles in the online EU media. I will never forget some of the stuff I read, and if I disliked the EU before...All EU "antiAmericanism" is just their ongoing temper tantrum over the US's failure to cooperate in commiting economic suicide to benefit the EU.

This guy has his head completely up his ass.
Now, Blair is a hero, and a good many Americans would gladly trade him for Bush.
Bush has approval ratings in the mid 70's...I would believe that the folks the author saw in Key West are among those firmly entrenched in 20 something % that hate Bush...and this clown would be welcome in theur midst.

(I predict hysteria at the UN)
Someone should tell this guy that 15 people hanging out in Key West (!) do not represent America and American thought. In fact I daresay they don't even represent Florida thought.
No, on second thought don't tell them. I'd love to see November 2002 duplicated in November 2004. Especially on the first Wednesday morning of the month.

LAST week in Key West, Florida, I think the pretty much explains the goofiness of the journalist's sample of Americans.
To: kaylar
Yeah, Key West ... there's a slice of typical, heartland middle American views.
It's like me spending a drunken weekend in Soho and then pontificating about Tony Blair's Britain.

For that matter, the table of maybe 6 people he saw, and from whom he reaches conclusions on how 300 million people think, may have been tourists from anywhere. They may not even be an indicator of Key West or FL attitudes.

LAST week in Key West, Florida, I witnessed an extraordinary event: a group of thirty-something Americans, while enjoying a meal in a restaurant, raised their Margaritas and Daiquiris...Key West?! hehehehe!! Uh, yeah, and every one of those guys were probably toasting Blair because they think he's soooo cute and his accent is dreamy.

Or Reagan's reelection...And if his opponent were HRC (not very likely!) so she'd be condemned to irrelevance, at least as a presidential candidate....

Yeah, a few days in a tourist trap, and little indication that he even talked to anyone-his "evidence" is mostly bumper stickers and the number of flags he saw-yeah, he has me convinced....

Let's see.... Spring Break, Key West... looks as if this writer was out leering at college girls and "connecting" with Americans. Creep.
For all we know the table of six was probably a Clinton-Rodham family re-union.

my Florida experience leads me to believe that Bush is doomedThis isn't just an idiotic article, but a deliberate hatchet job. As pointed out in large type in a recent post, the key words are "Key West." It is impossible for the author not to know what kind of people go to Key West on vacation. Not that 100% of those who visit Key West are gay leftists -- I've been there myself. However, most of 'em are gay leftists, and I didn't hang with this fellow's dinner party crowd. Even in the rest of Florida, this is the peak season and middle Americans mostly cannot afford it.
This article demonstrates how their leftist newspapers are so much, much worse than our liberal newspapers.

Over there hes widely admired for his defence of the UN On the contrary, Blair is admired in the U.S. for his principled stand against the knee-jerk anti-Americanism in the UN, and for his principled stance against brutal dictatorships.

Spring Break, Key West... looks as if this writer was out leering at college girls and "connecting" with Americans. Considering the location, college boys are more likely to be up his alley.
