Buy a decent set of books on European History.

If you do that, you'll see that there is no widespread practice of infanticide, gladiatorial contests, orgies, etc., all of which were prevalent in pagan Rome.

You quote some five-year-old blurb from CNN?

Did you even read the article? The anti-proselytizing resolution was withdrawn. (Perhaps they only meant LSD missionaries)

If you need proof of active, devout evangelical groups in Israel, read this:

Hey, just the fact that he's quoting CNN as authoritative on anything says a lot.

That's some funny stuff, if not the best post in this thread. I could answer this question with the obvious answer...

The SBCs can go in if they refrain from making stupid public statements about "evil and wicked religion," "moon god," and "paedophile."

Did you misread the article? They're going into Iraq. Not Utah.

You act so high and mighty with your proclamations of accepting other religions. But you would deny the Southern Baptists the right to proclaim theirs.

You took a wrong turn and ended up in Illbay's neighborhood, maybe?

Any Christians entering these lands should be mighty careful.

The mullahs of the religion of peace, go about packing pistols and knives.

Negative. I am a Irish Catholic. But I don't see what that has to do with it.

Oh. Your previous tagline seemed to be exceedingly hostile to 'professed Christians'. I just assumed.

Personally, I think that our military action in Iraq, and I pretty sure soon to be elsewhere, will open up the region to missionaries in a way that it has not been opened before. Think of Russia and other eastern block nations after the fall of the wall and communism in that area. God has said that His message will be told to the entire world, and I doubt He was messin' around.

The time is soon.

Plans Under Way for Christianizing the Enemy

I thought Saddam (and his regime) was the enemy, not the Iraqi people. Bad headline.

... These American religious fanatics ...

How tolerant of you.

Now I know President Bush, is a devout Christian, but he ain't stupid either. There's no way he'd let this happen though.

Please let me know when he stops it.

It's condescending comments like these that demonstrate exactly why we shouldn't be sending you and representatives of your religion over there.

Condescending? I believe professed Christians would know better than to say such a silly thing. If E Rocc is a Christian, it'd be great to discuss with him/her.

Are you a professed Christian?

Calling Iraqi's a sinner and then telling them that the only way not to go to hell is professing your faith in Christ, is not the way to win over friends.

You seem to have absolutely no idea how Christian missionaries work.

Hey Illbay. Does the LDS Church send missionaries to Islamic Countries?

Does the LDS Church send missionaries to Israel?

Does the LDS Church seek to proselytize Jews?

Does the LDS Church have any missionaries in Saudi Arabia? How about Lybia? How about Egypt? How about Iran?

If not, why not? Is it because the LDS Church does not care about the eternal destiny of Muslims and Jews? Does the LDS Church only seek to find new members from among the ranks of Christian Churches?

Again, "where are" not "where were"? Speaking in the present tense it is possible to cite numerous conflicts around the world which involve Muslims on at least one side of the conflict. This has been the norm since about 620 AD.

With respect to the Jewish religious wars. There is no doubt they are well documented in the OT. However, they are clearly undertaken in response to commands given directly by the Lord through his prophets and chosen leaders. One doesn't have to read very far to understand why these wars were undertaken. When you realize the unmitigated evil (child sacrifice, sexual perversion etc) practiced by the surrounding pagans which had worked its way into large portions of the Hebrew culture long before the northern and southern kingdoms were taken into captivity. The Lord's response to evil throughout His Revealed Word appears rather dramatic.

BTW, the ancient forerunner of modern Islam was present throughout the Arabian pennisula up into Mesopotamia even before Abram was called out of the land Ur of the Chaldees and is condemned in Deuteronomy along with other places in the OT.
